Job summary

VIRTEX in Minnesota is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to lead, develop, and execute supply chain strategies for aerospace-grade materials, production planning, and logistics. You will ensure supplier quality and on-time delivery in line with program schedules and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 5–10 years in supply chain or operations, with aerospace experience, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams, optimize inventory, and implement ERP/MRP systems to drive cost savings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5–10 years in supply chain or operations, with at least 3 years in aerospace or defense manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end supply chain strategies aligned with aerospace production schedules.
  • Manage procurement, vendor selection, negotiation, and strategic sourcing for aerospace-grade materials, components, and services.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure supplier compliance with AS9100, FAA, or other aerospace industry regulations.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels, lead times, and material flow to minimize shortages, excess, and obsolescence.
  • Lead and mentor a team of buyers, planners, logistics personnel, and warehouse staff.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track supply chain effectiveness, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Oversee logistics operations including inbound freight, customs compliance, and outbound shipping to customers or assembly locations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and lead supplier development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with program managers and production teams to support on-time delivery of aerospace parts and assemblies.
  • Implement and maintain ERP/MRP systems to support planning, purchasing, and reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across the supply chain.

Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and executing supply chain strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement, production planning, inventory control, and logistics operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that materials and components meet strict aerospace quality standards and are delivered in alignment with program timelines, regulatory requirements, and customer commitments.

Requirements
Education & Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in supply chain or operations, with at least 3 years in aerospace or defense manufacturing
Work Experience – Technical knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100, ITAR, FAR/DFAR)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor, or similar)
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing cross-functional teams
  • APICS/CPIM or PMP certification is a plus
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required due to defense contracts
Physical Demand
  • Must be able to sit at workstation for long periods
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Work Environment
  • Fairly quiet cubicle setting
  • Warehouse can be noisy and crowded
