Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to review, evaluate, and standardize products and purchased services across the system.

You will negotiate contracts, manage RFQ/RFP processes, and oversee contract development to achieve economies of scale and cost savings, working with multiple subsidiaries.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required with 7 years in Sourcing/Contracting/Negotiation in healthcare or business.
  • Associates degree with 5 years of Sourcing/Contracting/Negotiation experience in healthcare or business.
  • Bachelor degree with 3 years of Sourcing/Contracting/Negotiation experience in healthcare or business.

Responsibilities

  • Develops standards of MHC Supply Chain Management including vendor selection and RFQ/RFP processes.
  • Analyzes materials, equipment and purchased services to negotiate best prices and cost savings.
  • Consults with departments on requirements and substitutes to save costs and improve delivery.
  • Reviews special requests and ensures compliance across materials and services.
  • Oversees all contract stages: review, negotiation, execution and storage.
  • Facilitates product or service conversions and partners with Value Analysis.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the review, evaluation, and standardization of products and purchased services. The Sourcing Specialist works with all McLaren subsidiaries to identify and coordinate the vendor selection process to utilize economies of scale and realize cost savings for the corporation. Negotiates contracts and pricing and ensures compliance to the contracting standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Develops standards of MHC Supply Chain Management including: evaluation, qualification, and selection of vendors; the cost analysis, request for quote (RFQ), request for purchase (RFP), negotiation of services and equipment, placement agreements; the evaluation of vendor performance and ongoing compliance towards contract terms.
  • Performs analysis of a widely diversified group of materials, equipment and purchased services, such as medical, surgical, laboratory, pharmacy supplies, dietary supplies, etc. and negotiates to capture best price for the organization. Drive savings to help organization reach the fiscal year savings target.
  • Confers with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of materials, equipment, services and delivery requirements. Recommends substitutes to save costs and/or improve delivery.
  • Examines and makes decision on special requests throughout the organization covering materials, equipment and purchased services under their jurisdiction.
  • Oversees all efforts/workflow of all contract stages including but not limited to review, negotiation, execution, and storage.
  • Facilitates product or purchased service conversions. Partner with Value Analysis to champion clinical conversions.
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • High School Diploma
  • 7 years of experience in Sourcing, Contracting, Supply Chain, or Negotiation in a Health Care or Business environment

OR

  • Associates degree in Health Care, Business, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Contracting, Supply Chain, Negotiation, in a Health Care or Business environment

OR

  • Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration, Supply Chain Management, Business, Nursing, or related field
  • 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Contracting, Supply Chain or Negotiations in a Health Care or Business environment
Preferred
  • Supply Chain or business-related certifications (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP), APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP))
  • Clinical certifications or licensure (Allied Health Professional, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Nurse, etc)
