Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers a hands-on Supply Chain internship designed to expose students to real-world procurement, planning and operational processes across a major defense contractor.

You will work with analysts, buyers/planners and systems coordinators, gaining practical experience in purchase orders, supplier oversight and inventory control while being mentored by senior staff.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university.
• Freshman year completed prior to start.
• Available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum of 8 consecutive weeks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist analysts, buyers/planners and systems coordinators with tasks and projects.
• Support purchase orders, suppliers, inventory control and procurement activities within the submarine supply chain.
• Gain real-life experience by working across multiple departments under the guidance of senior staff.
• Commit to the internship duration between May 2027 and September 2027.
• Mentorship provided for the duration of the internship.

General Dynamics Electric Boat

Education

As a Supply Chain intern you will receive hands-on learning experiences in various departments across the full range of professions that support ongoing business operations. Interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. With the guidance of Electric Boat's senior staff and management, Supply Chain Interns will assist analysts, buyers/planners and systems coordinators with a variety of tasks and projects, depending on their assignment. Possible areas of assignment include the following:

Supply Chain Management

Experience creation, management and oversight of purchase orders and suppliers across the full breadth of the submarine supply chain including areas of government property & control, audit & compliance, suppy chain management, inventory control, general procurement, program management, and supply chain planning.

Each intern accepted into the program will be given a Mentor for duration of the internship. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain real life experience in the work force, gain insight into the internal processes of a major corporation, and apply the skills acquired in school related to the Business Management & Finance area of interest.

This program requires a minimum commitment of 8 weeks during the Summer 2027 Season.

This is not a remote opportunity.

Please note you may be assigned to work at any of the following locations: North Kingstown RI, Groton CT, North Stonington CT, New London, CT, and you will need reliable transportation and housing for the duration of your intern assignment.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this position:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• US citizenship is required.
• Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
• Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university
• At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2027 to September 2027; part time positions are not available.
• Working towards a Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Economics or other business-related degree program
