Job summary

Promed Molded Products Inc. is seeking a Supply Chain Lead in Minnesota to ensure timely materials and supply continuity for client programs. You will identify and qualify suppliers, coordinate ERP/data in quality systems, and manage inventories for GMP-compliant production.

The role emphasizes supplier negotiations, ERP/MRP integration, and cross-functional collaboration to balance cost, lead time, and quality across multiple programs.

Salary Range: $91,351.45 To $126,065.00 Annually

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

The mission of the Supply Chain Lead is to ensure that the right materials, components, and supplies are in the right place at the right time to keep client programs on schedule. This role owns supplier identification and material implementation into the site’s quality and manufacturing systems, and the inventory discipline needed to prevent stockouts or excess without compromising cGMP compliance. The role also supports supplier qualification.

The position requires strong supplier relationship management skills, working knowledge of GMP material controls, and the ability to balance the competing demands of cost, lead time, and quality across multiple concurrent client programs.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE

While the ways that you fulfill these responsibilities will likely evolve, your core responsibilities are:

Sourcing & Supplier Identification

On average, this will represent about 30% of your time. In this aspect of your position, we will expect you to:

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify raw material, component, and packaging suppliers capable of meeting cGMP quality, capacity, and lead-time requirements.
  • Lead supplier selection activities, including requests for quotation (RFQs), technical assessments, and site quality audits in coordination with Quality Assurance.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements to secure favorable terms while maintaining supply continuity.
  • Maintain an approved supplier list and support ongoing supplier performance monitoring and periodic requalification.
  • Develop dual-sourcing and risk mitigation strategies for critical or single-source materials.

On average, this will represent about 25% of your time. In this aspect of your position, we will expect you to:

  • Lead the implementation of new raw materials, components, and packaging items into the site’s ERP, specification, and quality systems.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Regulatory, and Process Development to ensure new materials are appropriately specified, tested, and released for use.
  • Support technology transfer activities by identifying and implementing materials and components required for new client programs.
  • Manage material change controls, including supplier or specification changes, to minimize disruption to ongoing production.
  • Maintain accurate material master data, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM) records.
Inventory Management & Ordering

On average, this will represent about 30% of your time. In this aspect of your position, we will expect you to:

  • Implement and maintain physical inventory infrastructure and management capabilities in the ERP.
  • Develop and maintain inventory plans that balance production demand, material lead times, shelf life, and storage capacity.
  • Place and track purchase orders for raw materials, components, and consumables, ensuring on-time delivery to support production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, and reorder points, and adjust ordering practices to prevent shortages or excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Track material expiry and retest dates to support FIFO/FEFO practices and minimize waste.
Cross-Functional Coordination

On average, this will represent about 15% of your time. In this aspect of your position, we will expect you to:

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning to align material availability with production schedules.
  • Communicate supply risks, delays, or shortages proactively to internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, client teams.
  • Support client-facing discussions related to material sourcing, lead times, and supply chain risk.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement and inventory processes to support site growth.
Necessary Skills:
  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements as they apply to raw material and component control.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory management, and material master data.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple client programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical skills to support demand planning, safety stock calculations, and inventory optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and supplier-facing coordination.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications For The Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or materials management, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with supplier sourcing, qualification, and negotiation.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management practices.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP material control requirements.
Physical, Sensory, Cognitive & Neurological Demands:
  • Requires the ability to safely perform the physical movements necessary to carry out the essential functions of the role, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements throughout the workday.
  • Occasional light lifting (e.g., sample materials, boxes) up to 25 lbs
  • May require use of PPE (safety glasses, lab coat, gloves) when entering production or cGMP-controlled areas
  • Visual acuity for reviewing specifications, contracts, ERP data, and detailed reports
  • Ability to distinguish labels, lot numbers, and material markings for inventory accuracy
  • Clear verbal communication for supplier negotiations, cross-functional meetings, and client discussions
  • Ability to hear and respond to phone/virtual meeting discussions in a normal office/warehouse environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for demand planning, safety stock calculations, and inventory optimization
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across different client programs
  • Attention to detail for maintaining accurate material master data, specifications, and BOM records
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making under time pressure (e.g., resolving supply shortages or delays)
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory/cGMP requirements to practical purchasing decisions
  • Sustained concentration during detailed data analysis and negotiation activities
  • Ability to shift focus quickly between strategic tasks (sourcing strategy) and tactical tasks (daily order tracking)
  • Stress tolerance in coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders, especially during supply disruptions
