JOB DESCRIPTION

When you work at Trex, you’re helping to grow and enhance a true original. You join a company that boldly launched an entire industry… and still leads the way.

The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner is the primary supply chain coordinator for the Little Rock decking operation. This role is responsible for production scheduling, raw material and packaging procurement, inventory control execution, and ERP transaction accuracy to support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This person serves as a key cross-functional partner to Operations, Quality, and Engineering, balancing customer service, manufacturing efficiency, inventory investment, and material availability in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Put safety first – Always!

  • Lead and foster our “people first” culture.

  • Plan and procure raw materials and packaging to support production requirements while maintaining target inventory levels and working capital objectives.

  • Manage inventory levels considering lead times, supplier performance, safety stock requirements, storage constraints, and forecasted demand.

  • Partner with suppliers to provide forecasts, expedite deliveries, resolve supply disruptions, and investigate receipt discrepancies.

  • Coordinate material availability with the production schedule to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

  • Represent Supply Chain in new product launches and material change initiatives to ensure successful implementation.

  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and R&D teams to evaluate and disposition materials on hold in a timely manner to minimize production risk and inventory exposure.

Production Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule for the Little Rock decking operations.

  • Convert supply plans, customer demand, inventory requirements, and manufacturing constraints into executable production schedules.

  • Balance customer service requirements, inventory objectives, equipment utilization, and operational efficiency.

  • Monitor schedule adherence and partner with Operations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Lead schedule adjustments in response to changing demand, material shortages, equipment downtime, or operational constraints.

Inventory Control & ERP Management

  • Execute and ensure accuracy of inventory transactions for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.

  • Research, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies using ERP system analysis and root cause investigation.

  • Maintain ERP master data and planning parameters to support accurate planning and inventory management.

  • Review and close production work orders on a regular basis to ensure accurate inventory and manufacturing reporting.

  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cycle count activities and investigate inventory variances.

  • Support annual physical inventory activities and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.

  • Serve as the first level of inventory issue resolution for the Little Rock facility.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance inventory accuracy, material flow, production efficiency, and working capital performance.

  • Analyze operational and supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Drive improvements to planning processes, ERP utilization, and inventory management practices.

  • Maintain planning and inventory master data to improve system integrity and reduce reliance on manual processes.
