Supplier Quality Representative (SQR) – Semiconductor Project

Day Shift | Supply Chain – Supplier Quality & Expediting (SQE)

Location: Candidates should be local to the Columbus–Cleveland, Ohio area. Candidates located elsewhere in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, or Indiana may also be considered.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift, five days per week.

Must-Have Requirement: Previous experience working in a high-purity cleanroom environment.

Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Representative (SQR) is responsible for conducting on-site quality surveillance at supplier and vendor facilities to ensure that materials, equipment, and fabricated components meet project specifications, applicable industry codes and standards, and procurement requirements.

This role involves monitoring manufacturing and fabrication activities, reviewing quality documentation, witnessing inspections and testing, and performing selective hands‑on inspections as required. The SQR identifies and rejects nonconforming materials, collaborates with suppliers and project quality teams to resolve quality issues, verifies corrective actions, and authorizes the release of conforming materials for shipment.

The representative serves as the primary Company contact at assigned supplier facilities and provides timely, accurate reports on quality performance, inspection results, and potential schedule risks to internal project teams and the customer.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Review and Pre-Fabrication Readiness

  • Review procurement documents with supplier representatives to ensure all technical specifications, quality requirements, applicable codes, standards, and client‑specific requirements are understood and implemented.
  • Participate in supplier kickoff meetings and pre‑fabrication reviews to confirm inspection and test plans, witness and hold points, documentation requirements, and material traceability expectations.
  • Verify that approved drawings and revisions, qualified procedures and personnel, calibrated equipment, and released materials are available before fabrication begins.

Quality Surveillance and Inspection

  • Perform quality surveillance activities in accordance with the assigned scope and Company quality surveillance plan, coordinating with supplier inspection and test plans at designated witness and hold points.
  • Monitor and witness manufacturing, fabrication, inspection, examination, and testing activities to verify compliance with purchase order requirements, including:
  • Welding, fit‑up, and dimensional inspections.
  • Blasting, surface preparation, and protective coatings.
  • Pressure and functional testing.
  • Final inspections, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and pre‑shipment verification.
  • Review supplier quality records and documentation, including material test reports, heat and traceability records, NDE reports, personnel and procedure qualifications, calibration certificates, coating records, and final manufacturing data books.
  • Verify that subcontractors and sub‑suppliers are properly disclosed, qualified, and controlled, and that applicable inspection findings and records are incorporated into supplier reporting.
  • Review supplier‑submitted documents and provide comments when necessary. Do not sign, initial, stamp, or otherwise endorse supplier inspection and test plans or other supplier‑controlled documents.

Non‑conformance Management and Corrective Action

  • Identify and reject materials or equipment that do not meet procurement requirements.
  • Document non‑conformances objectively, referencing the applicable requirements and including supporting photographs and other relevant evidence.
  • Work with supplier representatives and project supplier quality personnel to establish appropriate corrective actions and dispositions for identified non‑conformances.
  • Refer design‑related or technical disposition issues to the Responsible Engineer.
  • Verify corrective actions through supplier documentation and independent on‑site observation.
  • Track outstanding actions to ensure each has an assigned owner, target completion date, documented closure evidence, and follow‑up verification.
  • Identify recurring issues, report adverse quality trends, and communicate concerns to the appropriate project personnel.

Material Release, Reporting, and Schedule Coordination

  • Release conforming materials and equipment for shipment in accordance with the assigned quality surveillance requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal Company departments to support shipment readiness and related project activities.
  • Prepare timely, accurate surveillance reports documenting facility visits, inspection activities, observations, findings, and required follow‑up actions.
  • Communicate quality concerns, fabrication delays, and potential schedule risks promptly to the Area Supervisor and project supplier quality team.
  • Coordinate with expediting personnel to maintain consistent reporting of supplier quality and fabrication progress.
  • Support remote and technology‑enabled surveillance methods, including hands‑free video collaboration, 3D scanning, and model overlay tools, while recognizing that these technologies supplement rather than replace required on‑site inspections.
  • Maintain accurate assignment records, inspection notices, findings, certifications, and photographic evidence in the applicable Company systems.
