Job summary

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in San Jose, CA to ensure externally supplied products and services meet requirements. You will manage supplier programs across manufacturing and packaging, and drive quality improvements.

Responsibilities include evaluating supplier capabilities, qualifying new suppliers, conducting audits, leading CAPA activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering.
• Knowledge of Supplier Management practices and processes.
• Experience in implementing, maintaining, and auditing management systems.
• Experience in developing supplier relations and continuous improvement plans.
• Proficient in 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate supplier capabilities and capacity for supplier selection.
• Qualifies new suppliers based on customer requirements.
• Periodic reevaluation of suppliers based on delivery of quality products, materials, and services.
• Support operations in supplier related issues, communicates non-conformances identified during in-coming inspection, and manufacturing; and drive resolution in partnership with cross-functional teams and supplier.
• Lead investigations to identify root cause and Corrective and Preventive Action.
• (CAPA) activities with suppliers using appropriate problem-solving methods.
• Visit supplier facilities to conduct audits, witness production and inspection processes.
• Review and approve all First Article Inspection submissions.
• Monitor supplier performance and issue periodic reports; issue improvement actions to non-performing suppliers
• Act as a single point of contact for all supplier related quality matters.
• Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues.
• Participate and support internal and external management system audits.
• Collaborate closely with the MRB and RTV teams to drive timely disposition and manage supplier quality metrics.

Job Purpose

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring externally provided products, processes and services conform to all applicable requirements and company standards. In this position you will manage supplier programs for manufacturing, packaging and other operational processes, as well as ensuring quality programs conform to all applicable requirements including regulatory requirements.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field or related technical field
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering
• Ability to participate in the resolution of technical issues with respect to product processes, systems and deliverables in engineering, supply chain and quality
• Knowledge of Supplier Management practices and processes
• Ability to provide guidance to suppliers on all aspects of quality
• Experience in implementing, maintaining, and auditing management systems
• Experience in developing supplier relations and continuous improvement plans
• Proficient in 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies

Salary Range(annual): $88,000 - $95,000

Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
