Job summary

Mirion Technologies in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to manage supplier quality relationships and support quality activities in development and production, with a primary focus on Receiving Inspection and supplier engagement.

In this role you will lead supplier audits, RCCA investigations, and KPI analysis to drive continuous improvement across the supply chain, ensuring compliance with IPC, ISO and FDA standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years supplier quality experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Strong RCCA and investigative techniques.
  • Familiar with IPC, ISO, and FDA standards.
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficient in data analysis and MS Excel/Access.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier quality relationships to improve Supply Chain performance.
  • Partner with Suppliers to drive continuous improvement and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide guidance to Quality Inspectors, conduct product inspections, and supplier process audits.
  • Support supplier selection and evaluation process for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to maintain the Approved Supplier List.
  • Assess and audit new and existing supplier capabilities and ensure SNC requirements.
  • Conduct onsite supplier source inspection on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide feedback of supplier inspection results to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier related nonconforming material including containment/communication and disposition.
  • Analyze and report on supplier quality metrics to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on SCARs and RCCA for hardware and process issues.
  • Review and analyze product designs to minimize supplier risks via controls and inspection methods.
  • Identify and lead Continuous Improvement opportunities, including Lean, 5S, and mistake proofing.

Job description

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing supplier quality relationships to continuously improve Supply Chain performance throughout the life cycle of Sun Nuclear Corporation (SNC) products. Responsibilities also include Quality support in both development and production environments, with a primary focus on Receiving Inspection and Supplier engagement.

Key Areas Of Responsibility
  • Manage supplier quality relationships to continuously improve Supply Chain performance.
  • Partner with Suppliers to drive continuous improvement and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide guidance to Quality Inspectors, conduct product inspections, and supplier process audits.
  • Support supplier selection and evaluation process for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to maintain the Approved Supplier List.
  • Assess and audit new and existing supplier capabilities and ensure suppliers meet SNC requirements.
  • Conduct onsite supplier source inspection on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide feedback of supplier inspection results (such as machined, cast and injection molded parts) to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier related nonconforming material including containment/communication, dispositioning, approval, and timely closure.
  • Analyze and report on supplier quality metrics (ex: Quality KPIs) to identify trending issues and develop improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on SCARs and general coaching to drive adequate Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) for necessary hardware and process issues.
  • Review and analyze product designs and critical requirements to identify and minimize potential supplier risks through mistake proofing, process controls and inspection methods.
  • Identify and lead Continuous Improvement opportunities, such as Lean Process Improvements (elimination of waste), 5S Improvements, and Mistake Proofing.
Qualifications/Experiences
  • Bachelor's degree in either Industrial Engineering, Quality/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical field, with a minimum of 5 years Supplier Quality related work experience.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma experience (Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certified is preferred).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills are a must. Working knowledge and experience in effective problem-solving methods for Root Cause / Corrective Acton (RCCA) and investigative techniques such as 5-Why analysis, Fishbone Diagram, 8D method, and data analysis.
  • Basic understanding of risk assessment techniques such as DFMEA/PFMEA, Control plans, and SPC.
  • Ability to perform trend analysis and transform data into information to assist leadership into making impactful decisions.
  • Familiar with IPC, ISO, and FDA standards.
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Capable of interpreting mechanical drawings (machined, cast, and injection molded parts).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Proficient in data automation and metric development through applications such as Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Proficient in the use of manual and visual inspection equipment.
