Based at our Cudahy, WI location, the Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer will support commodities directly related to Vilter brand compressors and work closely with regional suppliers to drive metrics of cost, delivery and quality for Copeland brand compressors.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate suppliers by conducting quality system audits using the Copeland Supplier Audit (CSA).
- Assist with source selection and development of suppliers regionally.
- Process, review and disposition PPAPs, deviations, audit findings and supplier corrective actions.
- Ensure supplier controls and processes are capable of consistently producing components meeting all requirements.
- Confirm supplier PFMEA, Control Plans and other process documentation is adequate.
- Develop and support suppliers through visits, process audits, lean projects and provide manufacturing process technical guidance.
- Support new product development programs and supplier transitions.
- Participate in design reviews and provide commodity‑related design improvement suggestions for global sourcing, design/manufacturing optimization and process/tool design.
- Act as a Regional Supplier Quality representative supporting other commodities in the Northern Midwest region.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing (or equivalent work experience).
- Quality engineering experience with formal training in APQP, Flow Charting, Control Plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control and Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R).
- Written and verbal communication and leadership skills to all levels of a global corporation.
- Experience preparing slides and communicating to leadership.
- Problem‑solving, Corrective Action and Process Improvement techniques.
- Experience with quality auditing and quality systems; knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T.
- Proficiency with business and quality-related computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CSQP), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.
- Understanding of Lean principles (Kaizen, standard work, Kanban, VSM, continuous flow, 5S+1, poka‑yoke, waste elimination).
- Strong data‑driven decision making and ability to align work towards strategic and tactical goals.
Travel & Work Authorization
- Up to 30% travel to North American suppliers and Copeland operation locations.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided.
