Job summary

The Fountain Group in Columbus, IN is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the supplier base, driving defect-free performance and quality improvements. You will manage containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions across automotive-like supply chains.

Responsibilities include supplier evaluation, PPAP/APQP processes, and ongoing measurement of supplier quality against targets, with a focus on continuous improvement and timely new product launches.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or technical discipline.
• 3+ years of manufacturing/supplier quality experience.
• Strong APQP/PPAP, statistical quality, metrology and QMS fundamentals.

Job description

Selects, develops, manages, and ensures defect-free performance of the business' supplier base with the objective of overall quality improvement. Leads processes to drive improvements. Resolves supplier quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participates in supplier evaluation and selection.
• Responsible for the supplier corrective action process including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
• Ensures suppliers use quality tools effectively.
• Works with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are met.
• Oversees the supplier quality resources for new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.
• Responsible for determining if all requirements are met by the supplier for new or changed
• products.
• Measures supplier quality performance according to established procedures; drives appropriate improvements to meet established targets.
• Facilitates continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering / technical discipline and 3+ years of manufacturing/supplier quality experience, ideally in automotive, engine/powertrain, heavy equipment, or similarly complex manufacturing.
• Needs hands‑on ownership of supplier quality issues from containment and root cause through corrective action/SCAR closure, with strong APQP/PPAP, statistical quality, metrology, and QMS fundamentals.
• Heat treatment/coatings or other special-process supplier experience is highly desired.
