Job summary

PROENERGY seeks a seasoned Supplier Development and Quality Engineer to lead development, qualification, and improvement of external supplier manufacturing processes for gas turbine components. You will act as the technical authority on process capability and quality systems, driving defect prevention and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience, travel 50–60% to supplier sites, and a track record in ISO 9001/AS9100 environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, supplier development, supplier quality, or quality engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, process capability, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, or similar environments.
  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 50-60% domestic and international travel to supplier manufacturing facilities.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Candidate must also pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure supplier products and services comply with aerospace, customer, engineering, regulatory, and quality management system requirements.
  • Lead supplier manufacturing process development, qualification, validation, and approval activities while maintaining program timelines
  • Evaluate and assess machining, fabrication, welding, casting, forging, coating, heat treatment, assembly, NDT, and other special processes.
  • Conduct supplier qualification audits, process audits, surveillance activities, readiness reviews, capability evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Review and approve manufacturing plans, process flows, control plans, inspection plans, AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), and supplier validation documentation.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with approved manufacturing processes, special process requirements, traceability, configuration management, and quality standards.
  • Lead investigations of supplier nonconformances, quality escapes, and supplier performance issues using root cause analysis, 8D methodologies, and corrective action processes.
  • Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and verify the effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions.
  • Support supplier change management activities related to materials, tooling, equipment, manufacturing methods, and sub-tier suppliers.
  • Manage supplier scorecards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance monitoring systems.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement, process control, defect prevention, continuous improvement, and recovery initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to resolve supplier issues and ensure continuity of supply.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Supplier Development and Quality Engineer with a passion for process control, supplier development, and quality excellence. This role is responsible for developing, qualifying, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes at external suppliers producing gas turbine engine components and other critical hardware used in power generation equipment.

The ideal candidate has significant real-world manufacturing experience and is comfortable spending time on the shop floor solving complex production challenges. This individual will serve as the technical authority for supplier manufacturing processes, helping suppliers establish robust, repeatable, and controlled operations while driving process capability, defect prevention, and continuous improvement.

Success in this role requires a strong background in manufacturing engineering, special and controlled processes, precision component production, root cause analysis, and quality systems.

  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, AS9102, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and process validation.
  • ASQ or Lean Six Sigma certification.
