Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking a Supplier Development Manager (SDM) to lead supplier development, quality improvement, and risk management for GP activities in the US.

You will work with multiple Airbus organizations to drive continuous improvement across a broad set of suppliers and regions. The role requires deep expertise in procurement, quality systems, and project management with strong collaboration across internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related field.
  • 10+ years in procurement, quality, or related functions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Development & Improvement: build robust supplier supply chains and drive continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Improve supplier performance through targeted actions and corrective plans.
  • Lead the Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program aligned with GP strategy.
  • Coordinate with SCQM to define supplier site activities and improvements.
  • Launch supplier improvement plans to enhance capability and performance.
  • Supplier Control: perform supplier process audits and ensure regional quality and procurement alignment.
  • Support CID missions and connect with Improvement activities.
  • Manage periodic reviews with Airbus units and external regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Supplier Performance Management: conduct reviews of delivery and quality with high-risk suppliers.
  • Coordinate supplier assessments to evaluate capability and capacity.
  • Manage action plans after assessments and derisking missions.
  • Transfer of Work programs: coordinate and derisk activities across teams.
  • Supplier Risk Management: identify and mitigate supplier-level risks and prioritize actions.

Job Description:
Position Summary:

Fully integrated in the Procurement organization, General Procurement's (GP) mission is to procure indirect goods and services on behalf of the entire Group (Airbus Commercial, Airbus Helicopters), and as such to play a major role in generating value and contributing to the overall competitiveness of the company.

We are looking for a Supplier Development Manager (SDM) for all Airbus Commercial GP activities in the US.

In this role you will cover a large variety of activities/products and suppliers, working in close collaboration with several Airbus organizations /plants and group divisions.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Supplier Development and Improvement Management - 40%
  • Enhance supplier relationships by supporting them in building robustness in their supply chain and conduct the creation of Continuous Improvement plans or road-maps.
  • Improve supplier performance through the implementation of advanced actions
  • Define and Lead the Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program in line with GP commodities' Strategy & Objectives.
  • Liaise, where necessary, with other Supply Chain and Quality Managers (SCQM) to define further activity required at supplier site (Correct, Improve or Develop)
  • Propose, define and launch improvement plans with Suppliers in scope to continuously improve suppliers' performances and/or capability
2. Supplier Control - 30%
  • Perform and support process audit at Supplier Sites for Couple Compliance purposes as per M20193
  • Ensure regional quality & buyer activities are communicated efficiently in order to define & action any relevant activities arising from "regional" decisions, issues, activities, or international commodities contracted in the Region.
  • Support Supplier CID (Correct Improve and Develop) missions or connect them with the organization in charge of Improvement Activities at Suppliers as a result of conducting scheduled Supplier Control Reviews, in line with GP strategy
  • Manage defined periodic reviews or exceptional ones with Airbus organizations (Procurement, Manufacturing, Plants, Programs) and relevant stakeholders (e.g. Internal Customers & local or international Aviation Regulations) to review Supplier Quality Assurance and Compliance to Airbus business requirements (including external referential e.g. EN9100...).
3. Supplier Performance Management - 10%
  • Perform supplier delivery and quality performance reviews with high risk / strategic suppliers
  • Perform or coordinate supplier assessments to evaluate supplier capability/capacity
  • Management of supplier action plans following assessments, recoveries or improvement missions
  • Management of Transfer of Work project, coordinating and executing derisking and surveillance assessments.
4. Supplier Risk Management - 20%
  • Manage, identify and mitigate risk at supplier level by perfoManagement of Transfer of Work project, coordinating and executing derisking and surveillance assessments.rming on-site capability assessments (ESCCA+...)
  • Manage the specific internal customer work package risk and ensure the prioritization of mitigating actions through CID or SQIP
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
  • Education: A Bachelors' Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: Ideally ten (10) years of experience in Procurement, Quality, or related functions. Prefer experience with an increasingly higher level of authority and accountability.
Licensure/Certifications:
  • Project Management Certification is desirable
  • Any Quality Certifications are desirable
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
  • Quality and/or Lean Management experience
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Project Management
  • Industrial background is a plus
Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
  • Fluent in English
  • French, German or Spanish fluency are a plus
Technical Systems Proficiency:
  • SAP Experience is preferred
  • Airbus Quality systems experience is preferred

Travel Required: Regular travel domestically and internationally could be required, up to 25% at times if supplier audits and visits are required.

Eligibility: Able to work in the US with potential visa sponsorship

Nature of Contacts: Involved, negotiation type communication on a regular basis with internal and external parties

Physical Requirements
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
