Job summary

Eaton’s IS VEH Functions division is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer for a hybrid role at the Southfield, MI campus. You will lead supplier qualification audits, feasibility assessments, APQP activities, PPAP readiness, and support Safe Launch initiatives.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree and at least four years in supplier development or quality engineering, and must travel up to 75% across US, MX, CA.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum four years experience in supplier development, supplier quality and/or quality engineering.
• Must reside within a 50 mile radius of Southfield, MI; relocation not available.

• Willing to travel up to 75% (US, MX, CA).

Eaton’s IS VEH Functions division is currently seeking a Supplier Development Engineer. This is a hybrid work opportunity based at our Southfield, MI campus.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What you’ll do

• Conduct supplier qualification audits to assess quality, and technical capabilities against business and product requirements; perform periodic requalification audits to ensure ongoing compliance and capability.
• Perform supplier feasibility assessments in support of new sourcing activities and new programs to confirm supplier understanding of product requirements and manufacturing capability; participate in cross-functional sourcing decisions by providing technical and supplier capability input.
• Manage APQP activities with suppliers from program kickoff through PPAP approval to ensure readiness for production.
• Support and monitor Safe Launch activities following PPAP to ensure flawless, on-time, and stable production launches.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Focus Supplier Programs to address performance gaps, strengthen capabilities, and improve quality, delivery, and manufacturing robustness.
• Support Supplier Quality Engineers in complex quality issues by contributing technical expertise to problem‑solving activities, root cause analysis, and implementation of effective corrective actions.

Required Basic Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum (4) four years experience in supplier development, supplier quality and/or quality engineering

• Manufacturing process knowledge of cold forming and machining
