Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced supplier-facing manufacturing expert in Warren, MI. This hybrid role focuses on capacity readiness, run-at-rate execution, and problem solving across the supplier base.

You will coach SQEs, analyze capacity, and drive corrective actions with suppliers to ensure launch readiness. You will work hands-on with suppliers, visit sites, and use project management to organize actions, with a strong emphasis on credibility and cross-functional collaboration within

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years in advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, quality or engineering or related field
• Strong working knowledge of capacity calculations, installation, launch and validation in production
• Experience troubleshooting line performance, bottlenecks, staffing assumptions, equipment readiness and throughput constraints
• Ability to work directly with suppliers to develop recovery plans
• Demonstrated project management skills with follow-up, coordination, issue tracking, timing discipline
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to experts and non-experts

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on supplier capacity planning, line installation, launch execution, and run-at-rate readiness
• Visit suppliers with capacity/execution issues to identify gaps and drive corrective actions
• Assess alignment of installed capacity with volumes and production requirements
• Analyze capacity calculations, line rates, station performance, and equipment readiness
• Support run-at-rate preparation and execution; identify issues and drive closure
• Educate and coach SQEs on capacity fundamentals and launch execution
• Act as technical resource for capacity planning and risk across SQE
• Provide backfill support for supplier-facing responsibilities
• Support SQMS and team support activities; learn system knowledge as needed
• Use project management practices to organize work and drive closure across multiple issues
