Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Supplemental Physical Therapist who will assess patients and develop treatment plans based on evaluations. You will mentor staff and oversee clinical interns while providing advanced therapeutic treatments.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Physical Therapy, possess a current PT license, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Experience in Pediatrics and the ability to manage patient care efficiently are essential.
Location: TMC Two. Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric PT experience required within the last 3 years.
The Supplemental Physical Therapist assesses patients, develops and initiates a treatment plan based on the evaluation results. This may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. The incumbent documents findings, progress and provides instruction to patients and caregivers. The therapist provides recommendations and assists physical therapists and the management team with program development. The therapist serves as a resource and mentor, overseeing the development, guidance, and training of assistants, students, interns, and rehabilitation technicians in individual patient care. A physical therapist practicing direct access examines and evaluates a patient's current conditions, identifying movement and mobility dysfunction. A direct access therapist does not diagnose illness or disease. If a medical diagnosis has already been established by a qualified healthcare practitioner, the physical therapist will consider it during the evaluation process.
For a physical therapist practicing direct access with at least one year of experience: The therapist assumes responsibility in patient care, performs a complete comprehensive evaluation of patients with a physician’s referral, accurately interprets evaluation findings, develops a written plan of care and goals, and implements a comprehensive program to attain goals. Provides advanced physical therapy treatments and demonstrates competency in advanced skills. Manages patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians. Assesses patients regularly to monitor progress and alters goals, plans, or programs as indicated. Motivates and instructs patients and caregivers using appropriate methods. Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, professional colleagues, physicians, and insurance companies. Manages time effectively, documents appropriately, and completes other documentation duties accurately and efficiently. Serves as a clinical resource to staff, hospital, and/or system or departmental committee/task force. Provides leadership in an ongoing department interest or study group. Demonstrates increasing expertise in treatment of a particular patient population. Acts as a clinical instructor to PT and PTA interns. Assists in program development within the department and with clinical competencies. Assists in supervision of support staff. Actively participates in organized community service/functions as a representative of the profession. Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings, and meetings as delegated or requested. Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
