Job summary

Harris Health System, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Technician I to support patient care on inpatient units under the supervision of a registered nurse. The NT I will work closely with the charge nurse and staff to ensure patient needs are met and care is delivered safely.

Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, hold a current BLS, and be proficient with medical terminology, basic computer use, and common nursing equipment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program with fundamentals completed and one clinical rotation.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Familiar with nurse call systems, beds, vital signs equipment and related devices.

JOB SUMMARY

The Nurse Technician I (NT I) is accountable for supporting patient care activities, under the supervision of a registered nurse on inpatient nursing units. The NT I works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure that patient care needs are met. The NT I performs patient care activities, as delegated, and adheres to patient safety measures. The NT I has basic knowledge of medical terminology and possesses communication, organizational, and computer skills. The NT I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Specialized Training

• Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Nursing program, has completed the Nursing fundamentals course and one clinical rotation.
• Licensure/Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Equipment Operated: Nurse Call system and headwall, patient bed, head wall devices, vital sign monitoring equipment, supply-dispensing machines.
