Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Mammography Radiologic Technologist to perform mammography exams and ensure high-quality imaging. You will position patients, manage data, and maintain radiation safety standards in a fast-paced radiology department.

The role requires graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program and a mammography program, along with ARRT certifications and Texas MRT licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology; Graduate of an approved program of mammography technology.
• Certifications: Basic or Advanced Life Support; Texas MRT license; ARRT-R; ARRT-M.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography radiographic exams with proper radiation safety, positions patients and ensures image quality.
• Enters and monitors patient data in the system.
• Performs quality assurance on mammography equipment; may assist with accreditation processes.
• Identifies and reports accidents, complaints or equipment malfunctions to department leadership.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, budgets, and time/supply management while delivering safe care.
• Supports department goals and mentors less experienced staff.

Job Summary

Hours: M-F are 630-530p and Saturday 8a-4p.

Will cover FMLA, last minute callouts, and PTO. Saturdays are truly needed

This position performs mammography radiographic procedures that are used by physicians to detect abnormalities, make diagnoses and treat patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology; Graduate of an approved program of mammography technology

Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support
• Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required
• Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
• Registered Mammography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-M)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions .

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs mammography radiographic exams on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: Prepares patients for exam, explains procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.
• Enters and monitors patient data.
• Performs quality assurance on mammography equipment. May assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
• Identifies and reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
