Supervisory Physician (Internal Medicine)

Responsibilities
  • Provide first contact, continuous, and comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and adults.
  • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of individuals who collectively take responsibility for the ongoing care of patients.
  • Examine, diagnose, prevent, and treat medical, surgical, obstetric, gynecological, and orthopedic conditions.
  • Supervise other health care providers as assigned. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Physician (Internal Medicine)

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian accredited medical school. Foreign medical degrees must have equivalent education and be demonstrated by a permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre‑medical education in the U.S. and graduate education abroad, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency must be submitted with the application.

Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program at an accredited hospital or institution.

Residency Training: Successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Internal Medicine, with at least four years of equivalent experience and training. Experience may not substitute for residency training required for the specialty.

Salary

If selected for a Physician position, the salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after the initial offer is accepted and is based on the Activity Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay to determine the starting salary, which will be provided once approved. Salary for physician positions is based on a tier scale determined by the position specialty, grade, and location.
