Job description

The ideal candidate will have strong and sincere commitment to advancing FEMA's mission of helping people before, during, and after disasters. The Federal Coordinator Officer (FCO) will supervise the following levels or higher: Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist, Supervisory Program Manager, Supervisory Program Analyst, Division/Branch/Section Chief, Commanding Officer, Response Team Leader, Commissioner, Vice President, Director.

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.

To qualify for this Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Federal Coordinating Officer) position at the IC-15 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  • Collaborating with State, Tribal, Local or Territorial stakeholders to develop goals and align resources in response to a disaster or emergency; and
  • Leading an organization in the response to and recovery from a disaster or emergency; and
  • Managing or overseeing budgets, spend plans, or grants.
