Job summary

The Department of War, Office of Inspector General (DoW OIG) invites applications for a temporary, not-to-exceed-1-year auditing role within the Cyberspace Operations Directorate. The position requires senior level specialty in performance auditing and leads audit teams in line with DoD standards.

Basic qualifications include an auditing degree or related field, plus 4 years of performance auditing experience and professional certification options (CPA/CIA) or equivalent coursework.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have a degree in auditing or related fields such as business, finance, public administration or accounting.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Preferred certifications: CPA or CIA; or completion of degree with substantial auditing/accounting coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise audit teams and evaluate performance to improve outcomes.
  • Plan, manage, and ensure compliance of audit work per standards.
  • Review findings and recommendations for accuracy and value.
  • Deliver briefings and communicate results to diverse audiences.
  • Develop clear, defensible, evidence-based audit documentation, findings, and recommendations.

Job description

This position is located within the Department of War, Office of Inspector General (DoW OIG), Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit. The Audit component conducts, monitors, and initiates audits relating to the programs and operations of the DoW. There is one position within the Cyberspace Operations (CSO) Directorate. This position is temporary, not to exceed 1 year.

Time in Grade:

For entry at the GS-15 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience:
  1. (1) Supervising audit teams; evaluating performance; developing staff; and addressing workplace issues.
  2. (2) Applying knowledge of organizational mission and policies to plan, manage, and ensure compliance of audit work.
  3. (3) Managing audit planning and execution in accordance with standards; reviewing findings and recommendations for accuracy and value.
  4. (4) Communicating expectations and results by delivering briefings, high-stakes meetings, and audience-appropriate messaging.
  5. (5) Managing the development of clear, defensible, evidence-based audit documentation, findings, and recommendations.
Basic Qualifications for the 0511 Series:

Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.

OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.

The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

  • 1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; Or 2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
