Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory Acquisition Program Management Specialist to serve as the Deputy Sentinel Flight Systems Section Chief within the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate at Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, Utah. This position (986236) is an NH-1101-04. The salary range for this position is$125,776 - $151,573 based on Value of Position 88, which includes Hill AFB locality pay (17.06%). **Value of Position: If your current basic salary is within the band, but above the stated Value of Position, your basic salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Flight Systems Chief, directly overseeing the design, development, integration, testing, qualification, and production of Sentinel Flight Systems, including the Booster, Post-Boost, Guidance Navigation & Control, and Re-Entry subsystems as well as Major Maintenance Vehicles (MMV) and Support Equipment (SE). These systems are integral to the success of Sentinel and the continued support of the Nation’s land leg of the nuclear triad. The Sentinel weapon system, when fielded, will continue the critical national strategic deterrence role currently being performed by the legacy Minuteman III (MMIII) intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system.

DUTIES:

• Deputy Chief for Sentinel Flight Systems supports the supervision of 50+ government civilian and military employees, and leads a team of five branches (Booster Branch, Post-Boost Branch, and Guidance and Control Branch, Re-Entry, and MMV and SE). This includes working closely with Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), and support contractors, ensuring that branch employees are properly organized, trained, and equipped to carry out the Flight Systems mission.
• Performs program management, technical, and integration activities necessary to support the design, development, testing, and on-time fielding of the Sentinel Flight Systems subsystems, which are integral to the overall $140B Sentinel program.
• Oversees subject matter expert support to the Acquisition Category 1 Sentinel Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) Contract valued at over $13B, subsequent production contracts, and sustainment of the Flight Systems.
• Reviews products delivered by the prime contractor and their numerous subcontractors and attends various technical and programmatic forums to ensure program activities are progressing to meet program schedule and technical objectives leading to flight testing, acquisition milestones, and the ultimate on-time fielding of the Sentinel weapon system.
• Advises leadership on acquisition, technical design, material development, test, and operational issues related to requirements, systems engineering, finance, performance, and schedule trade-offs.
• Proactively develops and presents technical and programmatic briefings and reports to Senior Executives.
• Continually engages with extended and geographically dispersed teams, including subject matter experts from across the Sentinel System Program Office, 309 SWEG, JHU-APL, MDA, Navy SSP, Navy Crane, AEDC and others to ensure Flight Systems technical activities are successfully planned, coordinated, and executed.

• Employee must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and is required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
• Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Program Management “Advanced” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
• This position is currently designated as a Key Leadership Position; the employee is required to sign a three year service agreement.
• In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee is required to file an Office of Government Ethics (OGE) Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
