The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Management's National Cemetery Administration, Finance Service, seeks an Accountant at the GS-14 level to uphold financial integrity across cemetery operations, burial benefits, construction, grants, leases, and donations.

This position is located within the Finance Service of the Office of Management (OM), National Cemetary Administration (NCA), Department of Veterans Affairs. Within OM, the Finance Service ensures financial integrity, transparency, and accountability across all NCA programs, ranging from cemetery operations and maintenance to burial benefits, construction, grants, leases, recycling initiatives, and gifts and donations.

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to some former Federal employees applying for reinstatement, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. This job series has an Individual Occupation Requirement (IOR). The IOR must be met, in addition to the specialized experience requirement for the grade level. Applicants who do not demonstrate that they meet the IOR in their application documents are ineligible for further consideration. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
