Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and safe processes for receiving, storage, and distribution. The role involves managing a team of warehouse specialists, optimizing workflow, enforcing company policies and procedures, and achieving key performance indicators such as inventory accuracy, process targets, and adherence to overtime procedures. Strong leadership, teamwork, and continuous improvement skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with functional and branch leadership to create strategic plans supporting future growth and improved efficiencies.
- Interview, hire, train, and certify all new hires on warehouse operations policies and procedures.
- Attend and lead branch, organizational and cross‑functional daily, weekly, and monthly meetings and calls.
- Provide leadership, support, mentoring, and performance management that ensures development of a highly skilled and motivated Warehouse Operations Team.
- Complete quarterly and yearly employee team performance reviews.
- Drive advancement in standard operating procedures and lead training events to standardize across all warehouse locations.
- Perform special projects and tasks as assigned while meeting and exceeding Warehouse Operations Standards.
- Implement best practice warehouse management design to optimize space and maximize labor productivity.
- Influence organizational change, manage Warehouse Efficiency and inventory accuracy improvement programs to support business growth.
- Perform management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.
- Promote a respectful work environment and continuously recruit, develop and retain a qualified, motivated and productive employee base.
- Coordinate efforts with the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations, and routine safety inspections.
- Make recommendations and execute on disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
- Comply with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, AIB, FDA, USDA, etc.).
- Achieve consensus on operating plans and provide reports and requested information to management as needed.
- Act as an active and strong contributor to the management team, leading in highlighting, developing and executing best‑in‑class solutions for our customers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- In‑depth understanding of receiving/inventory management, fulfillment warehouse work‑group dynamics, best practices, and measurement systems (metrics).
- Experience in improving business processes via continuous process review & improvement techniques and incorporation of available systems technologies.
- Track record in building and managing strong teams.
- Hands‑on, fact‑based manager who leads by example.
- Practical thinker with long‑range planning capability.
- Proactive quick thinker capable of problem‑solving in a high‑intensity environment requiring quick corrective action.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to gain consensus.
- Ability to develop individuals and establish positive team dynamics.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft and Google platforms.
- Hardworking, action‑oriented, and results driven.
- Ability to manage and drive multiple priorities at once.
- Willingness to cooperate and accept added responsibilities.
- Experience in process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, team player, and experience working in a highly cross‑functional organization.
- Experience in Solar / Renewables Industry a plus.
- Experience with Oracle WM and Oracle ERP is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Extended periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting material or equipment.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift on concrete floors.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance and 50+ lbs with assistance.
- Ability to work in a non‑climatically controlled environment throughout the year.
- Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment and self‑supervise.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, and ensure accuracy of work.
- Ability to interact with co‑workers and participate in meetings.
- Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 lbs frequently unassisted).
- Ability to hear alarms and commands from a distance.
- Ability to use ladders and step stools to access materials.
- Ability to operate a forklift, and push and pull hand carts and hand trucks.
- Ability to read labels and identify symbols.
