Job summary

The CORE Institute in Sun City West, AZ seeks an experienced Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams, manage staff and ensure high-quality patient care. You will train colleagues, maintain EMR documentation, and support accreditation activities across locations.

Qualified candidates have an associate degree in sonography, ARDMS, RVT/RVS credentials, and BLS certification, with 2–3 years hospital or clinic experience. Travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in sonography from an accredited school.
  • Current state and ARDMS certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • RVS or RVT credentials required
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Manages administrative duties and accreditation activities to ensure quality and consistency of ultrasound scans and supporting documentation.
  • Manages staff and exercises independent judgment regarding hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, etc.
  • Trains and validates skill sets of other sonographers as assigned.
  • Travel as necessary for training between locations.
  • Explains sonographic procedures to patients, answers questions prepares patients by applying the gel to the skin, and positions the patients on the table.
  • Ensures clear images for diagnostic purposes and makes adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary.
  • Selects the appropriate settings and adjust the patients' positions accordingly.
  • Monitors and cares for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures.
  • Selects and examines images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings.
  • Presents the sonograms and preliminary findings to the Physicians.
  • Completes the appropriate documentation and maintains patients' histories and medical records.
  • Assists Physicians and the healthcare teams during invasive procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans the sonographic equipment.
  • Performs medical procedures, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs, and giving emergency treatments.
  • Creates and maintains a patient electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure the unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
  • Supply ordering as needed

EDUCATION
  • An associate’s degree in sonography from an accredited school

EXPERIENCE
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Sonographer in a hospital or clinic environment.
