Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Security and Public Safety Coordinator to oversee safety, security, and emergency management initiatives at The Valley Hospital-Paramus. You will direct security personnel, manage parking facilities, and assist in transporting personnel and supplies as required.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years security or police experience, and a valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years security experience preferably in health care or two years of police experience.
• NJ driver's license with valid record and driving record acceptable for duration of employment.
• Minimum six hours training in Crisis Intervention.
• Effective communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to work independently and within a team, handle interruptions, and set priorities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To coordinate safety, Security, and Emergency Management initiatives, Guest Management and Reception Services under the Director of Security and Public Safety, and direct all assigned officers in the performance of their duties. To maintain control of parking facilities and to assist in the transportation (driving) of personnel and/or supplies when necessary.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years security experience preferably in health care or two years of police experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Driver's License - current and valid New Jersey driver's license. Employees must adhere to all procedural guidelines in HR Policy 1-13 including demonstrating an acceptable driving record for the duration of their employment as long as driving continues to be a responsibility of the job. Minimum six hours training in Crisis Intervention. Ability to communicate effectively (oral and in writing). Ability to effectively interact with customers to meet their needs. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to customer's needs.
