Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking a Supervisor, RN Weekend - Behavioral Health to lead inpatient behavioral health nursing staff, ensure optimal staffing, and coordinate quality patient care during weekend shifts.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, ensuring compliance with nursing standards, and collaborating with physicians to achieve positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced care environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing or Healthcare Related Specialty and two plus (2+) years of nursing experience.
• Zero (0) to Two (2) years supervisory/management experience in nursing.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of Behavioral Health
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

• This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
• Management responsibilities include hiring, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, staff productivity and performance management.
• Directs clinical practice activities of nursing staff to ensure that assessment of patients and the care delivered is in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, and other professional standards of care.
• Assists with and facilitates an educational process that enhances the provision and coordination of patient care activities to promote and maintain health, foster self-care, and improve outcomes.
• Collaborates with physicians and other health care providers to achieve desired patient outcomes and assures continuity of care.
• Participates in a Performance Improvement Process designed to enhance the quality of patient care/customer services as well as the probability of achieving desired patient outcomes.

Job Summary/Overall Objectives

Assumes administrative responsibility and authority for Inpatient Behavioral Health Services during tour of duty with access to administrative staff for direction/assistance with complex problems. Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
• Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
