Job summary

Loma Linda University Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Supervisor to coordinate respiratory care services on their shift and to serve as a clinical leader across LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. You will resolve technical problems, record treatments, and support staff through coaching and change initiatives.

The role requires an Associate Degree in respiratory therapy with two years of clinical experience; supervisory experience is preferred and a Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of respiratory care services on their shift. Resolves technical problems and performs quality improvement studies. Records treatment and diagnostic information in the medical record. Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment, problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Maintains a recognized area of clinical expertise and uses it in practice, teaching, and consultation. Serves as a role model and provides positive influence to initiate and facilitate change. Performs periodic staff performance evaluations, initial staff counseling's and conflict resolution. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience

An Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Two (2) years of clinical experience required. One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

Able to assemble and troubleshoot patient/machine equipment; draw blood; assess (patient or examination); perform preventative maintenance; calibrate equipment. Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications

Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the State of California is required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification and maintaining a current age-specific Advanced Life Support Provider certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through an American Heart Association (AHA) provider training program are required. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) is required.
