JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION

Responsible for day-to-day supervision and operation of an area. Could make decisions that may affect the division, department and/or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Immediately supervises employees in an area, including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs duties for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

  • Develops and monitors systems to assure patient/family teaching occurs and meets educational needs.

  • Maintains staffing levels for acuity and census.

  • Monitors and updates staffing plan as required by fluctuations in patient census.

  • Effectively utilizes available staff to meet established standards based on census and acuity need on a 24-hour basis.

  • Follows disciplinary process to correct employee performance by developing action plan for improvement and defining time lines for change.

  • Plans and implements strategies for resolving patient care problems with other members of the health care team.

Specific Experience Requirements

2 years recent Acute Care experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS


Current La. License as a Registered Nurse

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: medical record without limitation, patient demographics, lab results, patient financial and 3rd party billing information, patients related complaints, information related to patient location.


Safety Requirements

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: incident reporting, exposure control plan, hand washing for all age groups.
