Position Summary
This position provides clinical leadership of patient care services and directs supervision of therapists and support staff to ensure consistent provision of developmentally appropriate, quality patient care in accordance with all applicable federal, regulatory, professional standards and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the appraisal process, bringing a clinical perspective for all disciplines in the program; assist in interviewing, hiring, and terminating employees.
- Coordinate in‑service schedules, ensure completion of evaluation forms, and present in‑services to staff; communicate with other site coordinators about in‑service opportunities.
- Develop and coordinate new programs and clinics; consult with other programs regarding program issues.
- Ensure compliance with governing agencies by participating in surveys, reviewing and recommending updates to program policies and procedures, and ensuring ongoing compliance during accreditation interim.
- Evaluate and treat patients, demonstrating knowledge of normal development and skills needed to provide age‑appropriate intervention; provide care as outlined in the standards of care section of the Policies and Procedures Manual; use pediatric‑based behavior management strategies; establish appropriate treatment plans with age‑appropriate goals and target time frames; perform assessments and implement treatment plans for patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
- Provide assistance for immediate personnel issues (e.g., signing time cards, processing incident reports in the absence of the Director); conduct, direct, monitor, and insure timely completion of discipline‑specific orientation; provide direct guidance and leadership to team members.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision for employees of the Rehab Program by conducting and coordinating internal use review of clinical cases; provide or coordinate discipline‑specific education and develop and/or test clinical pathways; enhance staff development through the establishment of program and individual goals; participate in discipline‑specific and multidisciplinary program expansion.
- Provide educational programs and in‑service training to physicians in training, physicians in general, staff, and others in the community.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Experience: Three or more years of professional pediatric clinical experience; previous supervisory/management experience.
- Licensure: Current State of Arizona license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology by start date.
- Certifications: Current specialty certification in PT, OT or SLP; Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association by start date; if a speech pathologist, current ASHA certification.
- Additional Requirements: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association by start date; current specialty certification in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology.
