Job summary

Patco in Grandview, MO is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead the QC team in our manufacturing facility. You will oversee QA/QC activities, ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FSMA and ISO standards, and drive continuous improvement in product quality and process control.

Reporting to the QA/QC Manager, you will mentor technicians, manage testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products, maintain LIMS and test methods, and coordinate calibration and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Business, Engineering, HR, Food Science) required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in quality/regulatory leadership in a food manufacturing setting.
  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • GFSI Internal auditor certification preferred.
  • Travel and on-call availability required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, BRCGS, ISO 9001 and EXCiPACT.
  • Direct QC Technicians in inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products.
  • Plan laboratory coverage and timecard approvals.

  • Develop and maintain product specifications and test methods.
  • Maintain Lab Information Management System (LIMS) databases.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.

Quality Control Supervisor

Position Summary:

Position reports to the QA/QC Manager. Oversees, monitors, and coordinates team activities, giving importance to individual member's and overall team's achievement of established goals. Responsible for the quality process including critical process characteristics, standards, audits, and complaint resolutions. Ensures team's goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company's directive.

Additionally, this position will provide leadership to the Quality Control Technicians who are engaged in the quality testing of raw materials, work in process and finished products of mono and diglycerides and lactylates.

The QC Supervisor is responsible for several areas involving instrument support and maintenance. The supervisor is a source for process consultation. Other activities include writing and maintaining quality control documentation, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, database support, and test method validation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in related field; A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Business, Engineering, Human Resources, Food Science, or another similar field.

Experience: Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience in quality and/or regulatory leadership capacity in a food manufacturing setting. Experience in food programs, including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, SPC, PCQI for food and feed as well as exposure to a TPM environment.

  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • GFSI Internal auditor certification preferred.
  • Travel and on-call availability are required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures ongoing compliance to, but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, FSMA, BRCGS, ISO 9001 and EXCiPACT.
  • Implements, executes, and promotes food safety of our products through the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), performance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security Measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure the products safety and quality are in compliance.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for all quality employees.
  • Directs QC Technicians in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over the quality of raw materials, facilities, and products.
  • Responsibility for planning and scheduling laboratory coverage and timecard approvals.
  • Provides ongoing and annual training to the quality team and operations team in quality techniques and tools to ensure product requirements are consistently met.
  • Developmental training of peers to grow their knowledge and experience as it relates to troubleshooting and problem solving of instrumentation and test methods.
  • Ensure personnel have received appropriate training and are assessed as competent to perform tasks.
  • Directs quality program planning and coordination to ensure product and quality systems’ meet customer specifications
  • Initiate investigations of non-conformities relating to food safety and quality of the product or processes.
  • Assist with development; update and maintain product specifications and ensure that test methods are developed in support of new and changing products.
  • Maintain Lab Information Management System (LIMS) databases.
  • Communicates facility quality performance through verbal, documented and meeting formats to other members of management and / or operations and warehouse staff.
  • Organize and participate in problem solving sessions and be accountable for timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Propose, write, and/or review quality control Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinate and conduct development, maintenance, and validation of test methods.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Provide support to the engineering and technology team and other departments for new product developments and process improvements.
  • Research, propose, purchase, and set-up new instrumentation within budgeted costs and timeframes
  • Ensure availability of necessary lab supplies and chemicals, including instrument preventive maintenance supplies.
  • Conduct safety, quality and environmental system compliance audits.
  • Provide back-up support for the QA/QC Manager and Chemical Analysts as needed.
  • Performs additional tasks as required to accomplish goals.
