Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in East Stroudsburg is seeking a Part-Time Supervisor to lead daily operations at the campus store and deliver an exceptional customer experience. You will work with the store leadership, coach staff, and help execute store priorities to engage students, support faculty, and build alumni loyalty.

This frontline leadership role offers a varied year-round schedule, opportunities to affect customer service quality, inventory tasks, opening/closing duties, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of retail experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and support daily store operations.
• Ability to coach, motivate, and provide direction to team members in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, adapt to changing business needs, and work collaboratively with store leadership.
• Ability to work varying schedules on a weekly basis year-round, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the sales floor delivering exceptional customer service while coaching and supporting team members to create a customer-first culture.
• Assist with opening and closing responsibilities, serving as Manager-on-Duty when assigned, and helping ensure operational priorities are completed.
• Provide day-to-day leadership by assigning work, monitoring progress, coaching team members, and helping ensure daily priorities and operational standards are achieved.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all store departments to assist customers, support team members, and meet business needs across the store.
• Resolve customer questions and concerns with professionalism, exercising sound judgment and escalating issues when appropriate.
• Support the onboarding and training of new team members while reinforcing company policies, operational standards, and customer service expectations.
• Assist with merchandising, inventory management, replenishment, order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and other operational activities to maintain a customer-ready store and achieve operational goals.
• Promote company standards by supporting operational excellence, safety, loss prevention, and a clean, organized shopping environment.
• Promote a clean, safe, and organized store environment by modeling operational excellence and supporting store standards.

The Part-Time Supervisor is a frontline leader who supports the daily operations of the campus store by delivering an exceptional customer experience and helping drive operational excellence. Working closely with the store leadership team, this role provides day-to-day leadership, coaches and supports store team members, and helps ensure the successful execution of store priorities. The Part-Time Supervisor leads by example, promotes a culture of collaboration and service, and contributes to a welcoming retail environment that supports the success of the campus community.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement throughout the store to access merchandise, assist customers, and support daily operations.
• Routine tasks may involve hanging and/or folding merchandise, stocking shelves, unpacking merchandise received, pulling and packing web orders for customers, pulling and packing merchandise to be returned to vendors, transporting merchandise within the store, assisting with the delivery of course materials to students within the store, completing data entry, or a variety of other physical tasks.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of time.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of merchandise.
• Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• May be required to perform routine housekeeping duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, and trash removal.
