Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing activities, optimize the flow of materials, and develop standard operating procedures and work instructions. The supervisor provides direction to assigned personnel and drives schedules to meet divisional goals and contractual requirements.

Key coordination with manufacturing, engineering and planning is required to resolve issues impacting production and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory/managerial experience in military or aerospace electronic manufacturing, with last 2 years hands-on material/production control and stockroom in electronics manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with MRP.
  • Must have supervisory/managerial skills and ability to train assigned personnel.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints, schematics, drawings, parts lists, SOWs, specs and military specs.
  • Team player able to interact with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate data from sales orders, budgets, product specs, operation travelers, inventory lists, and production rates to allocate and schedule parts, materials, machines, and workflows.
  • Develop, review and maintain master manufacturing schedule.
  • Maintain material delivery schedules to meet product delivery dates considering lead times and testing/packaging requirements.
  • Maintain production budgets including Material Estimate to Complete data.
  • Distribute work orders and communicate deadlines to functions.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering and planning to resolve production/delivery issues.
  • Set work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Enforce SOPs including ESD, contamination control, traceability, MSDS and safety.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage improvement goals.

Job Description:
Overview:

The Production Supervisor leads and coordinates all manufacturing activities, optimizing the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies across functional groups. This role provides clear work direction to assigned personnel while developing standard operating procedures, work instructions, and equipment tracking systems. Additionally, the supervisor manages performance reviews, oversees training, tracks material budgets, and drives manufacturing schedules to meet both divisional goals and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates written data from sales orders, budgets, product specifications, operation travelers, parts and material inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operations and workflow.
  • Develops, reviews and maintains master manufacturing schedule.
  • Develops and maintains material delivery schedules that maintain established product delivery dates using material lead times that include special testing, preparation or packaging requirements.
  • Maintains production budgets, including "Material Estimate to Complete" data.
  • Distributes work orders to functions, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
  • Confers with manufacturing, engineering and planning to resolve problems affecting production and delivery schedules.
  • Determines work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Maintains and enforces company required and standard operating policies and procedures that include, but are not limited to ESD, contamination control, traceability, MSDS and safety.
  • Develops and administers performance reviews, assign improvement goals, monitor performance to goals and recommend wage adjustments or advancement per company standard policy to assigned personnel.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Interviews and screens prospective material and production control personnel to divisional standard operating practices.
  • Studies and standardizes manufacturing procedures and systems to improve efficiency of subordinates and division.
  • Maintains harmony among assigned workers and resolves grievances.
  • Maintains attendance records and dispenses disciplinary action, as required, in accordance with company operating policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • May be asked to perform other duties not outlined in this description.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
  • BA degree, trade school or better, in Material and Production Control technology
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years supervisory/managerial experience in the Military or Aerospace Electronic Manufacturing environment, with the last 2 years hands on material/production control and stockroom in an electronics manufacturing area.
  • A minimum of 2 years hands on experience with MRP.
  • Must have supervisory/managerial skills, work well with minimal supervision and have the ability to train assigned personnel.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints, schematics, drawings, parts lists, SOW, specifications, military specifications and other documentation pertaining to the manufacturing of a product.
  • A team player with the ability to interact with all other functions including manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in the use MS Office and other computer peripherals in a professional environment.

  • Team or self-management teams experience
  • Work experience in Space related equipment

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $128,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
