Silgan Containers in Flora, Illinois is seeking a Supervisor, Process & Set-up to lead the set-up group, ensure mold changes are completed on schedule, and drive safe, efficient production with direct reports. You will coordinate with management to optimize tooling, quality, and throughput while maintaining compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires 3–5 years in a blow molding environment, strong knowledge of Bekum/Fischer/Kautex machines, and a forklift license.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; fluent reading/writing English.
  • 3–5 years in a blow molding facility (preferably with shuttle equipment).
  • Knowledge of blow molding tooling and components.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow procedures; strong safety record.
  • Forklift license.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices throughout the plant.
  • Manage the set-up department and ensure timely, accurate results.
  • Identify mold issues and coordinate changes with mold makers to optimize tooling.
  • Approve engineering on new tooling/mold with plant PDE.
  • Maintain daily change listings and report to plant manager monthly.
  • Collaborate with shift supervisors, operators and quality personnel to keep production running smoothly.
  • Provide support for plant projects and after-hours as needed.
  • Monitor attendance and performance of direct reports and enforce safety rules.

## Supervisor, Process & Set-upApply: On Site: Flora, Illinois: Full time: Posted Today: R8198**SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:**Manage direct reports to ensure plant start-ups and mold changes are completed timely and according to schedule. Work closely with management team and shift supervisor to control labor and ensure the production lines are running smoothly and efficiently. Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the plant. Daily communication with the management team and hourly employees to ensure best utilization of time, production schedule and cost.**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:**1-Responsible for promoting and executing safe work practices throughout the Houston facility.2-Manage the set-up department, ensuring all set ups are completed timely and accurate.3-Identify mold issues and correct them by communicating, recommending changes to mold maker to optimize process/changes on tooling size(s).4-Work with plant PDE to approve engineering on new tooling /mold.5-Maintain listing of daily changes and report to plant manager at month’s end.6-Work closely with shift supervisors, operators and quality personnel, to ensure the production floor is running smoothly and efficiently.7-Work closely with PDE’S on new projects8-Manage spare parts inventory9- Train new employees10-Work closely with customer service and manufacturing manager on upcoming jobs and ensuring all components are here for the job.11-Evaluate jobs that do not run to standard and work with appropriate personnel to bring them to standard.12-Provide support to the plant during off hours as needed.13-Monitor performance and attendance on direct reports and administer accordingly.14-Promote plant wide safety practices.**AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable):****EDUCATION:****Required:**High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.**EXPERIENCE:****Required:** Good safety, attendance and job performance record. 3-5 years in a blow molding facility, preferably working with shuttle equipment:* Working knowledge of blow molding tooling and components.* Ability to demonstrate high amount of quality and quantity of work.* Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use.* Extent, to which team member identifies and corrects errors, initiates work activities, assumes responsibility, and anticipates needs.* Extent, to which team member completes work assignments, meets schedules, and follows established policies and procedures.Builds trust by respecting the ideas and contributions of everyone.
