Salary range: Salary is based on UCSB salary scales. See table 32 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $73,817-$85,576 annually. Percent appointments may vary.

Position description

The Teacher Education Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified Supervisors of Teacher Education. The anticipated opening at the time of posting includes the specialty area of Secondary Education. The screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The availability of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from 10% to 100% time.

The Supervisor's responsibilities include:

  • Supervises Teacher Education Program students in practicum sites in elementary or secondary public schools.
  • Coordinates between UCSB coursework and practicum activities for TEP students and Cooperating Teachers.
  • Provides training and support for Cooperating Teachers at the school site.
  • Works in consultation with school personnel to identify classroom placements, promote growth in teaching practice and to resolve problems.
  • Meets regularly with TEP students and participates in TEP faculty meetings, curriculum development activities, and program and student evaluation activities.

The posting will remain open until March 31, 2027 to accommodate department needs. The pool will close on March 31; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Teacher certification in the State of California or equivalent at the time of application.

Minimum of three years experience as a lead public or private school classroom teacher at the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

At least one quarter/semester experience in providing professional development services to teachers/educational personnel, OR at least one quarter/semester mentoring new teachers or pre-service teachers by the time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with classroom supervision of pre-service teachers.
  • Familiarity with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE).
  • Knowledge of current policies and effective practices in K-12 teaching.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (assessed on the CV, e.g., statement that candidate is bilingual in Spanish, teaching experience in a bilingual classroom)
  • Familiarity with edTPA or CalTPA.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
