Job summary

Mercy seeks a Supervisor of Pharmacy Technicians to lead an evenings Pharmacy Technician team in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will oversee preparation, compounding, dispensing, and distribution, while ensuring safe, accurate medication delivery and regulatory compliance.

As a senior role, you will mentor staff, optimize workflows, and collaborate with pharmacists on patient-care initiatives, with a focus on safety and efficiency for Mercy patients.

Qualifications

• 3 years hospital pharmacy experience minimum.
• Active Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing.
• CPhT certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Pharmacy Technicians in a hospital setting.
• Support medication preparation, compounding, dispensing, and distribution processes.
• Assist with advanced pharmacy automation technologies and robotics.
• Serve as subject matter expert for workflows, inventory, ordering, and distribution systems.
• Train, coach, and onboard new coworkers to uphold best practices.
• Troubleshoot pharmacy automation and software to ensure efficient operations.
• Collaborate with pharmacists to support patient care initiatives and regulatory compliance.
• Drive process improvements to enhance safety and patient experience.

The Supervisor Pharmacy Technicians oversees and supervises Pharmacy Technicians that assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications. The Supervisor Pharmacy Technicians reports to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. As a technician supervisor, the coworker may engage in more complex medication distribution processes, have additional department responsibilities, and/or function in specialized areas.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent required

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy (or ability to obtain by first day of employment)
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB within 6 months of hire
