Mountain Recreation is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Supervisor on Duty at the Edwards Field House to support daily operations and ensure exceptional experiences for guests and staff. This role is responsible for welcoming guests, processing admissions, operating point-of-sale and computer systems, handling payments, answering phones, and overseeing facility operations. The Supervisor on Duty also supports staff supervision and training while ensuring all opening and closing procedures are completed accurately. Ideal candidates are organized, approachable, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing a safe, efficient, and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Supervisor on Duty


Location: Edwards Field House (Edwards, CO)


Employment Type: Part Time, Year-Round


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)


Schedule: Primarily Saturdays and Sundays. Work schedules are variable and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hours based on the operational needs of the facility.


Supervision Required: Reports to the Edwards Field House Facility Coordinator and Facility Supervisor.


Supervision Exercised: Provides direct supervision to facility support staff at the assigned location.


Work Environment and Physical Demand: Duties may be performed indoors or outdoors, depending on the facility and program, and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions. The role requires sustained focus and attention to detail. Typical physical activities include walking, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, and pushing or pulling equipment and supplies. Job-related stress may include managing crowds, interacting with challenging participants, exposure to illness, and periods of sustained activity.

Salary: $21.50 – $25.53/hour; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Statement of Duties: Support the smooth operation of the recreation facility with a degree of independence, ensuring supervision and security of the facility. Foster an environment that aligns with the facility’s program philosophies, mission, and goals.


Essential Functions:



  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, including opening and closing procedures, supervising on-duty staff, and ensuring smooth execution of programs and positive customer experience.

  • Provide high-level customer service, building rapport and maintaining professional relationships with patrons, teams, and visitors.

  • Handle inquiries, bookings, and payments efficiently and accurately.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all facility programs, services, and offerings.

  • Supervise patrons during facility programs to ensure safe use of facilities; maintain security and report incidents such as vandalism or theft.

  • Respond to accidents or incidents according to established procedures, notifying supervisors and emergency services as needed, and maintain accurate records.

  • Set up and break down equipment and facilities for programs and events.

  • Communicate with participants, volunteers, coaches, and spectators regarding program information and behavioral expectations.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to facility staff and volunteers.

  • Identify and report safety hazards related to equipment or the facility environment.

  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure adequate coverage for programs and events.


Other Duties:



  • Maintain a positive attitude, take initiative, and work collaboratively with all staff to promote efficiency and camaraderie.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned that are consistent with the position and the operational needs of the facility.

Requirements

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: Considerable knowledge of recreation facility management, including facility operations, program delivery, and risk management.


Skills and abilities:


  • Demonstrate initiative and exercise independent judgment in day-to-day operations.

  • Provide leadership within the team, guiding and supporting staff and volunteers.

  • Communicate effectively with patrons, volunteers, players, coaches, and spectators.

  • Establish and maintain positive, respectful, and cooperative relationships with all contacts.


Requirements:


Education and experience:



  • Must be 18 years or older; AND

  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND

  • At least one year of work-related experience in recreation facility supervision, including organized sports or game management, or any satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.

Certifications:



  • May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
