Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to clinical laboratory work.
  • Six years of relevant experience.
  • MB(ASCP) or CG(ASCP) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop schedules to ensure optimal laboratory coverage and timely reporting.
  • Supervise personnel, provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs for laboratory operations.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Review instrument maintenance logs and QC records; take corrective actions.
  • Conduct testing procedures and troubleshoot assay performance.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to boost efficiency.
  • Compile data and present laboratory metrics and progress reports.
  • Ensure staff training and competency aligns with regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with CAP, NY, CLIA and 5S standards.
  • Perform test cost analysis and forecast FTE needs.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor of NGS plays a pivotal role in the clinical laboratory's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and supervising laboratory personnel. This position is responsible for maintaining optimal laboratory coverage, overseeing personnel, and implementing process improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop schedules to ensureoptimallaboratory coverage fortimelyresultsreporting.
  • Supervise laboratory personnel, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Establish andmaintainstandard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory operations.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies as needed.
  • Review instrument maintenance logs and QC records, taking corrective actions asrequired.
  • Conduct and oversee testingprocedures,troubleshoot assay performance when necessary.
  • Evaluate, suggest, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Compile and analyze data,preparingand presentinglaboratory metrics and progress reports.
  • Ensure staff training and competency align with laboratory regulations.
  • Maintain laboratory compliance according to CAP, NY, CLIA regulations, and 5S standards.
  • Perform test cost analysis and forecasting for full-time equivalent (FTE) needs.
  • Undertake other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
