Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Morenci, AZ is seeking a Supervisor Mine Operations to oversee safe, efficient operation of a mine work unit and implement production plans.

The role requires supervisory experience in mining, budgeting and safety practices; on-site duties include staff supervision, performance evaluations, inventory control and safety training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5 years of related operational experience including supervisory or lead experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining discipline with at least one summer internship or equivalent in mining/industrial environment with supervisory or lead experience.
• Additional certifications or licensure applicable to the job may be required.
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques; ability to resolve day-to-day questions about equipment, materials, methods and procedures; budgeting skills; safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, supervises, coordinates and controls the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
• Assigns, supervises and reviews the work of staff for the unit.
• Implements production plans according to approved schedule.
• Participates in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult tasks.
• Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies problems and directs remedial action.
• Conducts performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
• Prepares estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected activities.
• Maintains an inventory of parts and materials; approves purchases; maintains time, materials and equipment use reports; requisitions tools, supplies and equipment.
• Trains staff in safety procedures; maintains safety data sheets for crews.
• Performs other duties as required.

Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Bring To Freeport

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$93,000 - $127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
