Job summary

Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) is seeking a Supervisor, Materials to oversee warehousing, shipping and receiving, material handling, and production control. You will ensure timely material availability, accuracy, and compliance to support manufacturing operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong knowledge of CMMS and ERP systems, and the ability to optimize material flow while maintaining safety and regulatory standards. Familiarity with DoD/ITAR and AS9100 is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience in logistics or materials management may be considered in lieu of degree
• Certifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus; ability to obtain security clearances if required
• Hands-on supervisory experience in a manufacturing or defense/aerospace setting is desirable

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor, Materials of Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) supervises the daily operations of the Materials Management function, including warehousing, shipping and receiving, material handling, and production control. This position ensures timely material availability to support production while maintaining inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficient material flow throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Materials Management team, including Warehousing, Shipping & Receiving, Material Handling, and Production Control
• Provide day-to-day supervision, including time approvals, objective setting, performance management, conflict resolution, motivating, training and coaching through effective visual management, metrics, and feedback
• Operate as an active, working leader serving as additional and/or backup capacity to all materials management roles in order to successfully execute the daily tasks and requirements
• Oversee shipping and receiving process to ensure compliance with all external (DoD, ITAR, etc.) and internal (ISO, AS9100, etc.) regulations and requirements
• Effectively manage the timely delivery of raw material, kits, and supplies to the Production Floor with proper material presentation to optimize the assembly process
• Review and improve material storage methods and warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, reduce kit preparation time, improve inventory accuracy, and maximize warehouse efficiency
• Lead the cycle count process, researching and determining root cause for variances and implementing corrective actions for long-term sustainment and process improvement
• Lead logistics-related activities including freight, transportation, contracts, bill reconciliation, and hazardous material requirements
• Proficiency in CMMS ensuring data accuracy and utilization in all transactions and material processes
• Support onboarding and training for all new Material Handling personnel in conjunction with Human Resources
• Maintain Government Property records and tracking from receipt through final disposition, including storage, transfers, inventories, and relief of responsibility
• Prepare and maintain Government Property documentation to support inventories, audits, transfers of responsibility, shipping, storage, and contract close-out activities in accordance with contractual requirements
• Monitor inventory accuracy and material availability, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to support production requirements
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable federal, state, local, and regulatory requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• Directly supervises assigned Material Handling personnel

Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• Bachelor’s degree preferred. May consider years of experience in lieu of degree
• Certifications in APICS, IATA, DOT, RCRA and ITAR preferred; ability to pass certifications required

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience in logistics, materials management or related functions
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior support of manufacturing operations in defense or aerospace sectors preferred
• Hands-on experience in warehouse operations, including domestic and international shipping and receiving
• Forklift experience preferred

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
• Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to complex technical challenges
• Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, shipping documentation, and inventory records
• Working knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, material flow, and ERP/MRP systems
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
• Must have ability to obtain a forklift/industrial powered vehicle license
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP, and inventory/warehouse management software
• Knowledge and experience of MS D365 is a plus

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Use of computer. Involves standing and walking most of the time, may involve sitting for brief periods.
