Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Coil Plant Manager and supervises employees in fabrication, sheet metal, and assembly areas. The role plans, assigns work, monitors policy adherence, coaches and mentors the team, recommends improvements in production processes and working conditions, and ensures continuous safety, quality, 5S workplace organization, product delivery, and performance KPIs. They train operators on the Nortek Production System and facilitate daily improvement meetings.

Position Responsibilities
  • Exhibit personal integrity, honesty, and strong character principles.
  • Review safety policies and set expectations for the team.
  • Champion the assembly safety culture and employee-based safety awareness.
  • Identify and implement safety, quality, and productivity improvements using problem‑solving skills.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes using Operational Excellence principles.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and resolve manufacturing process problems.
  • Prioritize and perform multiple tasks as a team‑oriented employee.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining Workplace Organization (5S).
  • Provide supervision and leadership of assembly line personnel; build trust, communicate goals, make timely decisions, set example, and communicate daily.
  • Ensure tasks are understood, monitored, and accomplished within time and quality constraints.
  • Monitor Level 1 board data for countermeasures and problem solutions.
  • Coach and mentor team leads and operators to improve processes and develop talent depth.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, or disciplinary actions per company policies.
  • Conduct duties with respectful communication to all employees, both verbal and written.
  • Apply problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills to ensure all team members identify root causes and act effectively.
  • Maintain training matrix and team skills for current and future production demands.
  • Conduct training on Nortek Production Systems.
  • Monitor company resources to maintain optimal operating costs.
  • Promote one‑piece flow and standardized work within facilities.
  • Read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings and explain them to others.
  • Maintain staff time and attendance records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of plant‑level operations experience in a high‑volume/mixed‑model production environment; 5+ years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); ability to navigate an ERP system is a plus.
