Job summary

Tyson Foods in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Supervisor Maintenance to lead and coordinate maintenance technicians across a high-volume pork plant. You will oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and scheduling of crews to minimize downtime.

The role requires at least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience, supervisory skills, and familiarity with SQF/GMP policies. Strong communication and computer skills are essential, with weekend work possible.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ years’ industrial maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory ability to lead a team of mechanics.
  • Knowledge of SQF Quality Management policies and GMP practices.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; SAP exposure a plus.
  • Willingness to work weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a group of maintenance mechanics and foster a trained, motivated staff.
  • Manage preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment.
  • Schedule maintenance crews and production work orders.
  • Lead, direct, and train staff; promote a Safety First culture.
  • Diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and PLC issues and direct repairs.
  • Develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program for plant equipment.

Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.**Job Details*** Responsible for supervising a group of mechanics who perform somewhat identical and related tasks or activities and fostering a well-trained and motivated staff.* Manage and oversee the preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment.* Schedule maintenance crews and production work orders.* Ability and experience to lead, direct, evaluate and train a staff of maintenance technicians.* Measure, monitor and reduce machine downtime.* Diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and electronic (PLC) problems and direct/assist with repairs.* Promote a ‘Safety First’ culture amongst staff.* Develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program for equipment and plant.* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Tasks include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and reaching.
