Job summary

First Solar in United States is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to plan and supervise daily work for maintenance personnel. You will train and develop direct reports and set objectives, directing hourly associates, contractors, and vendors to ensure First Solar's standards are met.

This role requires extensive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, and proven ability to manage CMMS/Maximo.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in engineering, mechanical or electrical field is desired/required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical or electrical field is desired.
  • 10 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience or 2+ years of First Solar Maintenance Team Lead or Tech 3 experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily uptime of equipment, following escalation procedures as needed for support.
  • 1st echelon on call coverage for equipment and personnel issues directing department needs after hours to include weekends.
  • Scheduling and daily work assignments of all maintenance personnel; executes maintenance planning process.
  • Developing and training maintenance technicians on the job.
  • Handling disciplinary actions with associates.
  • Supervises on-site service and repair of process equipment and maintains parts inventory.
  • Manages daily changes to workloads and schedules to meet department needs; ensures CMMS/Maximo compliance.
  • Ensures production and support equipment availability; oversees safety compliance and waste management.
  • Interfaces with other departments, supplier personnel, and offsite vendors; fosters teamwork and cost-saving opportunities.

Basic Job Functions

Plans and supervises the scheduling of daily work assignments of all maintenance personnel. Responsible for training and developing direct reports and setting objectives. Provides direction to hourly associates, contractors, and vendors to ensure that First Solar's standards are being met. Responsible for communicating systems and policies direct reports. Responsible for working with the appropriate departments to handle employee relations issues.

Education/Experience
  • Associate degree in an engineering, mechanical or electrical field desired required.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, mechanical or electrical field desired preferred.
  • 10 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience or 2+ years of First Solar Maintenance Team Lead or Tech 3 experience.
Required Skills/Competencies
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems or laser operations desired.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and CMMS experience.
  • CMMS experience preferred.
  • Proven organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Proven knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the daily uptime of equipment, following escalation procedures as needed for support.
  • 1st echelon on call coverage for equipment and personnel issues directing department needs after hours to include weekends.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of and the daily work assignments of all maintenance personnel. Accomplishes the maintenance planning process.
  • Responsible for developing and training maintenance technicians on the job.
  • Responsible for handling disciplinary actions with associates.
  • Supervises the on-site service and repair of process equipment and the maintenance of necessary equipment and parts inventory.
  • Responsible for managing daily changes to workloads and schedules to meet the needs and demands of maintenance department customers.
  • Responsible for CMMS/Maximo compliance to include closing out work orders, handheld scanner compliance, printing daily, weekly, and monthly PMs, job plan audits, and upkeep of CMMS hardware.
  • Ensures that production and support equipment is available. Also has responsibility for workforce planning, elimination of waste, and quality and safety compliance.
  • Ensure that all contractors and on-site vendors are aware of and adhere to all Company Safety Procedures and sign proper documentation.
  • Interfaces daily with other departments, supplier personnel, and offsite vendors.
  • Supervises the troubleshooting and servicing of all energy sources on all equipment and is responsible for the preventative maintenance program.
  • Manages the timely completion of special projects as required.
  • Responsible for effective communication levels and fostering team building.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings.
  • Oversees and understands the responsibilities of the Maintenance Associates to properly manage the hazardous waste generated from maintenance jobs performed in the either building.
  • Inform EHS Department of any waste management issues that arise and of any new associates that need to be trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position will have direct reports.
Travel
  • 0% - 5% (On occasion/as needed for training, etc.)
  • If hired during plant start up, you will be expected to travel to other First Solar locations for training.
Estimated Salary Range
  • 80,700.00 - 115,000.00 Annually

  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
