South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. seeks a Maintenance Supervisor at the Hermosa Project near Patagonia, AZ. Lead frontline maintenance for fixed plant and mobile equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operations and strong team development.

You will coordinate with Operations, Planning and Maintenance to execute daily to monthly maintenance plans, drive continuous improvement, and uphold OEM and site safety standards in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Competenze

• Five (5) years of maintenance experience in industrial/mining/heavy equipment environments.
• 2+ years in a Supervisor or Lead role in maintenance.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of maintenance management systems; SAP preferred.
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and team leadership principles.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for day‑to‑day issues with equipment/methods/work processes.
• Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc as well as silver and lead. ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will provide frontline leadership for maintenance activities supporting the Hermosa Project's fixed plant and mobile equipment fleet. You will be responsible for safely executing maintenance plans, leading and developing maintenance personnel, and ensuring equipment reliability through effective planning, coordination and continuous improvement.

Working closely with Operations, Planning and Maintenance teams, you will oversee the execution of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with safety standards, OEM requirements and company procedures. This role is site-based position located at the Hermosa Project near Patagonia, Arizona

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Lead by example through visible safety leadership and active participation in safety meetings, inspections and risk assessments.
• Coordinate and conduct workplace inspections, safety meetings and corrective actions as required.
• Ensure team members have the training, tools and resources necessary to perform work safely and effectively.

Maintenance Execution & Planning

• Lead the safe and efficient execution of planned maintenance activities for fixed plant and mobile equipment.
• Integrate weekly and monthly maintenance plans into effective daily shift plans.
• Communicate daily work priorities and ensure maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
• Collaborate closely with Maintenance Planners to optimize schedules and minimize impacts to future maintenance plans.
• Provide detailed feedback and documentation to support ongoing planning and scheduling improvements.
• Monitor work in progress, identify potential issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and support to maintenance personnel.
• Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity and equipment care.
• Conduct employee performance evaluations and support employee development and training initiatives.
• Address performance concerns, documentation requirements and employee relations matters in partnership with Human Resources and site leadership.
• Foster a collaborative, respectful and high‑performing work environment.

Communication & Coordination

• Maintain effective communication with Operations, Planning, Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment of priorities.
• Collect, document and communicate accurate maintenance information in a timely manner.
• Participate in planning and coordination meetings within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office applications to manage work execution, reporting and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability and work execution processes.
• Support implementation of maintenance best practices and adherence to OEM recommendations.
• Assist in resolving operational and maintenance issues through effective troubleshooting and problem‑solving.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience in an industrial, mining, processing or heavy equipment environment.
• 2 or more years of experience as a Supervisor or Lead role
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of maintenance management systems; SAP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and team leadership principles.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve day‑to‑day issues involving equipment materials methods and work processes.
• Working knowledge of applicable MSHA regulations and safety requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively coordinate work across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
