Job summary

A-dec, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Lead to direct daily machining operations and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will coordinate multi-cell workflows, manage tooling and equipment readiness, and drive continuous improvement with KPI tracking.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in manufacturing with machining experience and 1–3 years in supervision; a related bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead daily machining operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
• Coordinate workflow across machining cells, including loading, queue management, and changeover efficiency.
• Ensure tooling, fixturing, material availability, and equipment readiness.
• Monitor KPIs and drive corrective actions to improve performance.
• Identify and resolve operational issues related to equipment and staffing; escalate as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop CNC machinists, programmers, and leads.
• Manage workforce administration, including timekeeping and scheduling.
• Partner with HR on staffing and employee relations.
• Ensure adherence to standard work, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive lean initiatives, cost control, waste reduction, and process efficiency.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily machining operations, ensuring execution of production plans to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Coordinate workflow across machining cells, including equipment loading, queue management, and changeover efficiency.
• Ensure operational readiness, including tooling, fixturing, material availability, and equipment capability.
• Monitor and drive performance through KPIs (such as safety, quality, delivery, productivity, scrap, and cost); communicate results and drive corrective action.
• Identify and resolve operational issues related to equipment, tooling, workflow, and staffing; escalates systemic issues as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members, support performance management, training, onboarding, and employee engagement of technical roles such as CNC Machinist, CNC Programmers, and Leads.
• Manage workforce administration, including timekeeping, attendance, and scheduling to meet production demands.
• Partner cross-functionally and with HR to address employee relations, staffing needs, and operational challenges.
• Ensure adherence to standard work, quality standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement using lean principles, support cost control, waste reduction, and process efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of machining operations in a manufacturing environment, including CNC and manual machining processes.
• In-depth knowledge of production flow, tooling, fixturing, and equipment utilization.
• Working knowledge of ERP, MES and shop-floor systems.
• Working knowledge of quality standards, inspection methods, and production documentation.
• Working knowledge of safety practices and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive accountability in a fast-paced, equipment-driven environment.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to analyze performance data and drive corrective actions.
• Proficiency in standard computer and operational systems.

Education and Experience

3-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations with machining or fabrication experience. 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Experience working with CNC equipment and production processes. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multi-cell or complex machining operations.
• Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
• Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
• Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
