Job description

About the Team

DoorDash's Risk & Insurance team protects and strengthens our business by developing innovative insurance programs and operational strategies that support millions of deliveries worldwide. We partner across Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Data Science, and Operations to manage risk, improve customer outcomes, and enable the continued growth of one of the world's largest local commerce platforms.

As DoorDash continues to scale globally, Insurance Claims Operations is evolving through artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation. Our organization is reimagining how claims are managed by leveraging technology to automate routine work, enhance operational decision-making, and create scalable solutions that improve efficiency while maintaining exceptional customer experiences.

About the Role

DoorDash is seeking an experienced Insurance Claims Supervisor to help lead the next generation of claims operations at the frontline.

This role is responsible for leading a team of Claims Specialists, driving consistent, high-quality claims handling, coaching and developing talent, and helping bring AI-enabled workflows and automation into day‑to‑day operations. Working closely with cross-functional partners across Legal, Global Support, Community Support, Merchant Support, Engineering, Product, and Data Science, you'll help translate process improvements and emerging automation into day‑to‑day team performance.

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands‑on people leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys solving complex team and process challenges, and is passionate about leveraging technology to transform how claims are handled while delivering a great customer experience.

This position reports to the Manager, Insurance Claims Operations, and will be required to work a hybrid schedule at our Tempe, AZ office. Onboarding is the first 4-6 weeks, working Monday through Friday, 4-5 days a week in the Tempe office; afterward, the standard schedule shifts to Tuesday‑Saturday or Wednesday‑Sunday, with in‑office days based on performance.

You’re excited about this opportunity because…
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team through clear expectations, tailored development plans, and timely performance feedback.
  • Direct daily claims operations by prioritizing and allocating work, monitoring quality, productivity, and capacity, and removing barriers to timely resolution.
  • Provide hands‑on guidance and quality oversight for complex and escalated matters, identify root causes and handling risks, and drive appropriate corrective action.
  • Lead your team’s adoption of new workflows, automation, and AI‑enabled tools; partner with Engineering, Product, and Data Science to test, refine, and implement improvements.
  • Use team performance data and frontline insights to improve quality, efficiency, customer experience, and consistency in handling.
  • Partner with carriers, TPAs, Legal, and support teams to resolve high‑priority escalations, address service issues, and improve claim outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, operational excellence, and thoughtful change management.
We’re excited about you because…
  • 4+ years handling complex bodily injury or property claims or working within a complex insurance operations setting, demonstrating growing responsibility for driving cross‑functional initiatives or process enhancements.
  • 1+ years of direct people management experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Experience leading or supporting AI, automation, digital transformation, or technology‑enabled operational improvements is strongly preferred.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Product, Data Science, and Operations teams.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
  • Executive communication and stakeholder management.
  • Experience building scalable operational processes and governance models.
