In addition to performing radiology procedures, the Senior Imaging Technologist must coordinate the activities of other technologists for smooth, efficient patient throughput, with maximum patient care and safety for patients of all age populations. This would include scheduling, counseling, and interviewing technologist. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patients’ current status in relation to their age specific needs. Responsible for ordering supplies for the department.
Education: Two-year degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program deemed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Associates degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or equivalent field is preferred.
Licensure: ARRT (R) – Required to maintain continuing education credits as established by the ARRT, ASRT and facility. BLS Required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years as a working technologist.
Skills Required: Personnel supervisory skills, along with all other patient care skills, and all other non-supervisory activities. Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients’ needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served.
Worker must adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under specific supervision. Worker will be performing in a radiation area. Worker is required to be on feet most of the day and work is moderate. Extensive amounts of assisting and supervising is required. Worker must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow. Worker will be exposed to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
