Job summary

CEVA Logistics in Millington, TN is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to coordinate transportation and customs processes, and to deliver excellent customer service for shipments.

The role requires leadership, 4+ years experience, and knowledge of ITAR and import/export compliance; duties include supervising staff, training, and ensuring regulatory documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years related experience; at least one year supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, Import Brokerage, Export Compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and logistics software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Supervise staff activities and assist in training efforts; conduct meetings to improve performance.
  • Review shipment documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance; examine invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements.
  • Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and volume for imports/exports; communicate with customs officials as needed.
  • Establish and revise policies for customs clearance operations ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Identify areas of concern in client import/export processes through audits and periodic client reviews.
  • Coordinate with operations manager and maintain flexible work schedule, including after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Lead department projects related to assigned area.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
  • Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Provide responsible supervision and control for all departmental activities.Assistin the retention and training efforts of staffand ofcustomers. Conduct meetings with staff to assessgroup’soverall status, discuss ideas forimprovementand inform staff of new developments. Address all employee performance problems promptly and directlyin accordance withpersonnel policies.
  • Oversee performance statistics. Review andmonitorshipment documentation for accuracy. Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
  • Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to and from foreign destinations. Communicate with customs officials asappropriate toobtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
  • Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and servicestandardfor customs clearance operations as dictated and allowed by applicable regulations.Ensureall policies and procedures are consistently administered.
  • Identifyareas of concern in clients’ import and export processes throughmonitoring ofteam performance against company and client standards, regular audit of shipment documents and accounting, and periodic client reviews.
  • Communicate with operations managerregardingprogress and problems or issues.Maintainflexible workscheduleincludeoutside normal business hours and after hours on call rotation.
  • Effectivelyparticipatein and/or supervise department projects related to assignedareaof responsibility.
WHATARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED, Minimum four years related experience. Minimumoneyearsupervisory experience;Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Transportation,Financeor related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of work experience and education. Three years of industry experience preferred.
  • Credentials:Working knowledge of ITAR, Import Brokerage, Export Compliance, HazmatRegulationsand recordkeeping; Some professional certifications may berequired.
  • Skills:Intermediateproficiencyin Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Characteristics:Ability to allocate work assignments;Proven experience in problem analysis, presentation of alternatives and implementing solutions;Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
