Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ, seeks an experienced histology supervisor to manage staff, assure quality and compliance, and lead strategic planning within a high‑complex laboratory setting.

Qualified candidates have a histology degree (BS or higher), ASCP HT/HTL certification, and at least four years of lab experience. This exempt, full‑time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule and a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and development of staff. Provides oversight to, and is accountable for quality and service, Description regulatory compliance, work unit safety, strategic planning, document management, financial management and developing and implementing new services. Works cooperatively with a wide variety of customers, as well as internal and external resources. Completes special projects as assigned by the laboratory consultant/director(s), administrator and/or operations manager(s).

Qualifications

Histology: Bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing. The general supervisor's training and experience must be in the designated discipline or area of service for which the individual is responsible. Four years of laboratory experience required. Histology – HT or HTL (ASCP) or equivalent required.

Additional Requirements: Must have demonstrated leadership, communication (oral and written) and problem-solving ability. Must be highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently. Requires human relations skills to influence and motivate others. ASCP certification or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty. Histology – HT or HTL (ASCP) or equivalent required.
