DP World in Commerce, Georgia is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Supervisor to help launch a new warehouse operation. You will lead safety programs, inspections, and training to establish a compliant safety culture from day one on the warehouse floor.

The role requires hands-on leadership in a fast-paced start-up, partnering with operations, HR, contractors, and customers to implement proactive safety measures and ensure OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, risk management, or related field; other combinations may be considered.
  • Three+ years of health and safety experience in warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or similar environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and warehouse safety practices.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, safety inspections, and employee training.
  • Experience supporting a new site launch or rapid-growth environment preferred.
  • Strong communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Calm, objective, and responsive handling of urgent safety matters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn safety-management systems.
  • OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR or other safety certification preferred.
  • CSP/ASP/GSP or similar certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the site’s health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and training.
  • Help establish a proactive safety culture for a new warehouse operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, safety observations, and job hazard analyses.
  • Identify workplace hazards and partner with operations to implement corrective actions.
  • Lead or support investigations involving injuries, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Complete incident documentation, identify root causes, and monitor corrective actions to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Coordinate safety training, including new‑hire orientation, powered industrial truck safety, emergency response, ergonomics, hazard communication, and site-specific programs.
  • Maintain safety records, inspection documents, training records, and regulatory logs.
  • Review operational changes for potential safety risks and coordinate mitigations.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response plans.
  • Monitor use of PPE and safe material-handling practices.
  • Analyze safety trends and communicate findings to site leadership.
  • Coach supervisors and employees on safe practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous-improvement initiatives.

DP World is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Health and Safety Supervisor to help launch an exciting new warehouse operation in Commerce, Georgia. This is a unique opportunity to establish the site’s safety culture from day one, influence operational practices, and help build a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced start‑up environment, partnering closely with operations, HR, employees, contractors, and customers. This position requires someone who can move easily between strategic planning and hands‑on execution on the warehouse floor.

What You Will Do
  • Support the development and implementation of the site’s health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and training.
  • Help establish a proactive safety culture for a new warehouse operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, safety observations, and job hazard analyses.
  • Identify workplace hazards and partner with operations to implement timely corrective actions.
  • Lead or support investigations involving workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, property damage, and unsafe conditions.
  • Complete incident documentation, identify root causes, and monitor corrective actions through completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local health and safety requirements, including OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Coordinate required safety training, including new‑hire orientation, powered industrial truck safety, emergency response, ergonomics, hazard communication, and other site‑specific programs.
  • Maintain required safety records, reports, inspection documents, training records, and regulatory logs.
  • Review operational changes, equipment installations, and new processes for potential safety risks.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, evacuation procedures, and response plans.
  • Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe material‑handling practices.
  • Analyze safety trends and performance data and communicate findings and recommendations to site leadership.
  • Coach supervisors and employees on safe work practices, regulatory requirements, and individual accountability.
  • Participate in safety meetings, employee engagement activities, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable safety resource throughout the operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the business.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, risk management, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of health and safety experience in warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or a similar operational environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and commonly used warehouse safety practices.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, safety inspections, and employee training.
  • Experience supporting a new site launch, operational start‑up, or rapid‑growth environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, coaching, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to remain calm, objective, and responsive when handling urgent safety matters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn company reporting and safety‑management systems.
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification, First Aid/CPR certification, or other recognized safety certification preferred.
  • CSP, ASP, GSP, or similar professional safety certification is a plus.

About The Role
How you will contribute
  • Assist in the identification, development and administration of company safety training programs.
  • Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements. Providing technical safety and health support and information to all employees.
  • Coordinate and administer safety training initiatives for the company to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and all other regulatory requirements.
  • Administer mandatory environmental, health and safety training and ensure all newly hired employees, agency employees, contractors, visitors and transferred employees receive proper training.
  • Assist with the enforcement of regulatory regulations and company policies. Assist with launches of new facilities in relation to EHS programs
  • Ensure compliance to audit standards and work with auditors and vendors to answer findings and complaints in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
  • Ensure employees operate in a safe, orderly, and clean environment. Involved in the development of work procedures and makes health and safety recommendations accordingly.
  • Review injury/illness and non‑injury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance. This will include property in and around the facility.
  • Review plans and specifications for development of new machinery, equipment or processes to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
  • Serve as a member of the First Aid/CPR Responder/ERT teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
