Seeking an experienced Generation Supervisor – Electrical & Controls to support construction, engineering, commissioning, and maintenance activities across its power‑generation facilities.

This position is responsible for supervising contractors, coordinating electrical and controls projects, reviewing project designs, supporting contract administration, and ensuring that construction and commissioning work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable standards.

The Supervisor will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, station personnel, contractors, and contract administrators. The position requires extensive experience in heavy industrial construction and electrical and controls commissioning within a combined‑cycle power plant environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise electrical and controls contractors performing construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and maintenance work.
  • Ensure all contractor work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the company’s zero-accident philosophy.
  • Inspect work activities to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and established work rules.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, milestones, and critical-path activities.
  • Identify construction issues or critical items that could affect the project schedule.
  • Review project designs and identify potential scope, installation, or constructability changes.
  • Coordinate proposed changes with contract personnel and support the review and approval of contract change notices.
  • Assist with the preparation of field installation and subcontract work packages.
  • Develop and write electrical and controls scopes of work.
  • Support Engineering and Project Management with bidding, contractor evaluations, contract awards, and project execution.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, cost control, and productivity tracking.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled contractor progress and coordination meetings.
  • Assign contractor duties and responsibilities and monitor work performance.
  • Coordinate outage-related construction, commissioning, startup, and installation activities.
  • Develop detailed commissioning and startup plans and schedules with station personnel.
  • Ensure new and existing equipment is properly tested, commissioned, and placed into operation.
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards to prevent rework and support outage and non-outage project goals.
  • Monitor contractor environmental compliance.
  • Work with contract administrators regarding scope, budgets, changes, contractor performance, and other contract-related responsibilities.
  • Respond to contractor issues or emergencies as required.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Construction management training.
  • 10–15 years of experience in heavy industrial construction, power generation, or construction management.
  • At least 10 years of related electrical and controls experience.
  • Significant experience with electrical and controls commissioning and startup in a combined-cycle power plant environment.
  • Experience supervising contractors in an operating power-generation facility.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices, controls systems, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other applicable construction codes and standards.
  • Experience writing contract scopes of work.
  • Experience preparing project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Experience working with contract administrators and reviewing contract change notices.
  • Experience with outage coordination, planning, scheduling, cost controls, and quality control.
  • Experience using computerized work-management systems.
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple electrical and controls projects.
  • Strong leadership, contractor-management, communication, and team-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, electrical technology, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a power-generation facility.
  • Experience supporting combined-cycle plant outages, upgrades, or major capital projects.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely within an active power-generation facility.
  • Must be able to travel frequently between Big Bend, Bayside, and Polk Power Stations.
  • Must be available for occasional overnight travel, extended assignments, factory acceptance testing, user-group meetings, and equipment-shop inspections.
  • Must be available for occasional on-call responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends when required to support outages and project schedules.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in hot, humid, wet, or cold conditions for approximately 25%–50% of the workday.
  • Must be able to work inside a power-generation facility for approximately 25%–50% of the workday.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, climb, and navigate stairs, ladders, and multiple plant levels for approximately 20%–50% of the workday.
  • Must be able to sit and work at a desk or computer workstation for up to 50% of the workday.
  • Must be able to work in areas with elevated noise levels and wear required hearing protection.
  • Must be able to use all required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of responding to contractor or plant emergencies.
